Restart, Reset, Refocus — the final class. And probably the most challenging one. 😂
Due to my own insanity, might I add. Wonderful Meghan had a step-by-step of a tile from downtown ready for us, and I said, “Nah, I’m gonna do a totally different one.” Her response? “I wouldn’t expect anything less.” 😂 Honestly, our whole table was a little rebellious. We all chose something different, and everyone created something so beautiful.
I learned so many techniques I genuinely didn’t even know were a thing, but more importantly, I connected. I connected with the art, the process, and new people who are also on their own journeys of finding time for themselves.
After 13 years in social work, I’ve heard self-care, self-care, self-care more times than I can count. But if you aren’t actually practicing it, are you really caring for your mind, body, and soul?
These classes have definitely awoken something in me. Am I an artist now? Absolutely not. 😂 But I’ve discovered that I really, really enjoy this. I enjoy learning, slowing down enough to notice the little things, trusting the process (even when I’m questioning every decision I’ve made), and meeting new people along the way.
I don’t know what I’ll sign up for next, but I do know this isn’t my last class. Just my last one for now.
And honestly? I think that’s the biggest takeaway from this whole experience. Making time for yourself doesn’t have to mean having it all figured out, being good at something, or knowing where it’s going to lead. Sometimes it just means showing up, trying something new, making a little mess, and finding a piece of yourself you didn’t realize you were missing.
So, thank you, Meghan, for creating a space for all of this. I’m leaving with new skills, new connections, and a reminder that there’s more to me than the million things I have to do every day.
Now, to figure out what kind of trouble I can get into next. ❤️
