It is with hearts heavier than we could ever put into words that we announce that DaVinci will reopen its doors this Tuesday.
Walking into this restaurant without our dad there is something we still cannot comprehend. His sudden and unexpected passing has left a hole in our family, in this restaurant, and in this community that can never be filled.
Over these past several days, we have witnessed an outpouring of love for our dad that has been almost impossible to take in. Thousands of messages, stories, photographs, phone calls, posts and memories have come from near and farāfrom lifelong friends and customers, employees past and present, fellow restaurant owners, community leaders, and people whose lives he touched in ways we never even knew about.
Through all of them, one thing has been unmistakably clear: our dad mattered to people.
He didnāt simply own a restaurant. He built relationships. He welcomed people. He fed generations of families. He made people laugh. He remembered names, stories and faces. He gave generously, loved people genuinely, and somehow made everyone feel like they belonged. His presence was larger than life, but his heart was even bigger.
This restaurant was such an enormous part of who our dad was. It carries his fingerprints, his stories, his standards, his laughter, his love and decades of his lifeās work. And although nothing about walking through those doors will ever feel the same without him, we know that allowing what he built to continue is one of the greatest ways we can honor him.
So on Tuesday, we, his daughters will be there.
We will be there with broken hearts, incredible pride, and a determination to protect and carry forward the legacy our father spent his life building.
We also know that many of you will be walking through those doors grieving him too. His wife is grieving. Our family is grieving. Employees are grieving deeply. Our customers are grieving. Our friends are grieving. An entire community is grieving. There will undoubtedly be tears mixed in with the meals, the conversations and the memories and that is okay. This place has always been more than four walls and food. It has been family.
To every single person who has loved our dad, shared a story, posted a memory, reached out to our family, supported our employees, or simply shed tears because this world feels different without him in it: thank you. You have shown us just how far his love reached and how extraordinary the legacy of one beautiful human being can be.
Our dad can never be replaced. We would never try.
But what he built can be protected.
What he taught us can be carried forward.
And the love he poured into this restaurant and this community will live on.
We will open the doors Tuesday, just as Dad would want us to.
And we hope youāll come through them not only to support the restaurant he loved, but to sit at his tables, tell his stories, laugh about him, cry about him, honor him and help us continue something that meant so much to him.
This is his legacy.
And as his daughters, it will be one of the greatest honors of our lives to carry it forward.
We love you forever, Dad. š
This will always be your place. ā¤ļø
