We’ve received many messages and questions about AI lately. Gulu-Gulu Café supports artists in the endeavor of true creation. Unfortunately, generative AI companies built a system that took all available art and stole the style from many creators. People that make vector art, collages, or even sketches using something like Procreate, are now subject to accusations of AI use. This is unfair and unfortunate. Ultimately, AI stole these people’s style and that’s not their fault.

Even using something like Canva (not Canva AI) to make a simple poster can create confusion for viewers. The end result is a difficulty in knowing what’s real. Gulu-Gulu Café will never knowingly disseminate AI content passed as art. We certainly won’t let AI create our own posters and merch.

We try to vet everything, but some things slip through on our socials. It’s never intentional. We believe that art is made through the creativity of humans, not the mere work of computer chips acting on simple prompts. We prefer a deft human hand to a soulless cpu. Until and unless AI can be a true artistic medium, we’re gonna pass. Support local artists! Thank you.

Everything is too expensive right now. Be free for free, let's celebrate Pride without added fees! If you haven't had our marinated tofu in a little while, now's a good time to give it a new go. We completely changed the marinade to a citrus garlic vibe and the tofu texture is softer and smoother. We're incredibly happy with this update.

I usually have to go to Middle East or some of the other cool venues in Cambridge and Summerville to see them, but this time I just have to go to work and we get hear this great band.
