Please note that this year's Haunted Happenings Grand Parade will take place Thursday, October 1st, 2026, starting at 6:30 PM. The Parade will leave Shetland Park and proceed down Congress Street to Derby Street, take a right on Central Street, then Front Street, to Washington Street, then proceed down the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall and end at Salem Common.
All vehicles in the parade will exit Washington Square South and those walking in the parade can proceed into the Common at the end.
After the success last year, the Salem Chamber's Haunted Happenings Grand Parade will again have metal safety barriers lining the traditional parade route from Shetland Park to Salem Common. Chamber volunteers will be shutting the gaps in the barriers around 6:15PM to secure the parade route but a single crossing point will remain open at the intersection of Front Street and Washington Street throughout the duration of the parade to enable better pedestrian movement around downtown.
Due to the time it takes to put out all the barricades, Salem Police will be closing roads starting at 4:00pm on Thursday, October 1st, and roads won't be open again until after the parade has finished. Parking along the route may be impacted.
