21 years ago today, Jenny stood in front of a whole room of our family and friends and chose me.
I say she chose me because she truly could have chosen anyone. Period. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life. The profound effect from the day I met her has rippled through everything I do. She helped me find purpose, gave me support and love I never could have imagined, and gave me two kind, handsome, and strong sons who make me proud every single day. She has stood right beside me through the lowest of lows and celebrated every accomplishment along the way. She’s a volunteer, an incredible mother, a loving wife, and just a plain good person.
With the opening of our new location right around the corner, I’m reminded yet again of the quiet, essential role she has played in making On Any Sundae what it is today. You usually see me on social media or running the shop, but from the very beginning, Jenny cleared the path. She took the reins behind the scenes so I had the time, focus, and space to build this dream. Without her, it would have been an insurmountable task.
Behind every scoop, every celebration, and every milestone this shop hits, there is Jenny showing me what real, steadfast support looks like. I couldn't have built any of this without her, and I will never take that for granted.
Happy 21st anniversary, Jenny. Thank you for choosing me then, and thank you for making everything we do possible today.

🍦🍦🍦Both locations 🍦🍦🍦
“Are you hiring?” We get asked this at least once a day, and the real answer is: maybe. 🍦
Staffing needs change fast—school schedules shift, people move, life happens, or team rosters rotate. The only way to be in the running for either location is to have an application or resume on file with us!
How to Apply
Where: In person at our South Salem shop: 3987 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR (all hiring for both locations runs through South Salem).
When: Any day of the week between 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
What to Bring: Bring a printed resume, or stop by and ask for a paper application to fill out on-site. Hand your paperwork directly to any employee on shift.
The Essentials
Minimum Age: Must be at least 16 years old.
Hours & Pay: Part-time positions ranging from 10 to 20 hours per week. Starts at minimum wage + tips.
Availability: Evening and weekend availability is a non-negotiable must. We are here to serve our community during peak off-work and weekend hours.
Work Ethic & The Reality of the Job: We can teach you the job, but we can’t teach you to work—it's essential that you bring a strong work ethic with you. Working behind our counters is fast-paced, physical, and involves a steep learning curve. Balancing constant movement with top-tier customer service takes real hustle and the right attitude.
Tips to Stand Out
Pick up your phone: When schedules line up, we start calling immediately. If you miss the call, call us back quickly before we move down the roster.
Dress the part for interviews: Clean short-sleeve shirt, work-appropriate pants or shorts, closed-toe shoes, and hair tied back (or a hat).
Food Handler's Card: Have your card ready, or be prepared to get certified right away if hired.
Be ready to work.
Be ready to learn.
Be ready to listen.
And most importantly... BE NICE.
Swing by the Commercial Street shop and get your name in the mix!

We've got our new cabinetry installed in the front and we also got some appliances moved in late in the day. We've got a ton of painting that done also and I will post pictures of that probably tomorrow. The space is transforming really quickly and coming together. I planned on doing a soft opening but I'm not sure if we're going to do that yet I think we're going to just wait for the grand opening September 6th to make sure that we are all dialed in.
This process has been moving really quickly and I haven't had a lot of time to be anxious or stress about the process because it just feels like we're putting one foot in front of the other and taking all of the steps to make sure that we're open on time to serve people. I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't stressful though because it is opening a whole other new business and the financial commitments as well as the time and resources that it takes to make it happen are pretty substantial. A rule of thumb that I've given for expansion is that I want to wait for people to tell me that it's time. South Salem has been very consistent for quite a while now and although we can always continue to make improvements, our routines have become better and it feels like we're able to apply our lessons that we've learned over the years to get more consistent results when it comes to taking care of you guys. It feels like the natural progression now to open this shop and apply all of those lessons learned on Market Street. I'm not going to lie though I'm very nervous and I just hope that we're doing the right thing. Even though I've been doing this for almost 10 years there are days that I feel like a complete impostor and that I'm just faking it trying to make sure that I don't let anyone down. I really really hope that you guys like what we're doing not just a commercial but here on Market Street and I hope that we can bring the magic with us that we've tried to create on Commercial Street and make people happy. All of your support means the world and it keeps me going. I know that my team feels the same way. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Scoop big be happy and soon the lights will be on and we will be serving on Market Street. ❤️

Busy day today! We put in a full day of sign hanging and serious interior cleanup. The new lit signs and graphics will be coming soon! We've also got some exciting pictures from the inside coming. We got our booths and cabinets set up inside today. I'll post pictures of those tomorrow when it's a little bit cleaner inside to get some good pics. Lots of old BR stuff getting moved to the dumpster and deep cleaning going on. I have a couple extra hands on deck over the course of the next couple days so we'll be doing some paint and the counters will be installed in just a 2 days. It's really coming along quickly ❤️🍦🍨

I just got some really bad news today.
Jackie from Holoholo Hawaiian grill has passed away. Her husband George reached out to me and gave me the news. I don't pay a lot of attention to personal social Media stuff as I spend so much time with the business portion of it so I hadn't heard of her passing. George and Jackie had always been such a huge moral support for On Any Sundae and me personally. They really embodied the aloha spirit. Jackie and I on more than one occasion had spent over an hour on the phone with one another just talking. She was such a kind woman and George a loving caring husband. It was literally just yesterday that I was driving down 13th Street and thinking of them. George is now preparing services for Jackie, with her unexpected passing in their preparations to move back to Hawaii prior to her passing I know they could use a little bit of help. I don't think there's ever been a time in almost 10 years of being in business that we have ever asked for help like this before. But I feel like in this moment if there was ever a time it's now. I've attached a venmo at the bottom and if you'd like to donate anything even $1 to help Jackie being laid to rest it would be received with all the love at aloha from her family that she wished she would have been able to give you personally.
Rest in peace Jackie you will be missed 🌅
