From The Athletic: Alex Eala, 21, has been making history for the Philippines since she was a junior. She is changing tennis culture in real time. Many Filipino fans attending the Canadian Open hadn’t been to a tennis tournament before. https://nyti.ms/4fKT7jo

The Manila Fiesta's pork BBQ skewers combo includes two tender, grilled pork skewers, two pork lumpia (crispy spring rolls), and pansit noodles. The pork is marinated in a sweet, savory, and tangy sauce, then grilled over charcoal for a smoky flavor, and finally glazed with a caramelizing sauce made from ingredients like banana ketchup, soy sauce, and honey for a sticky, glossy finish.
Pork BBQ skewers
Meat: Bite-sized pieces of pork, often from the shoulder or butt, are marinated for several hours or overnight.
Marinade: A sweet and tangy mixture that typically includes soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper. It may also feature banana ketchup for sweetness and color and lemon-lime soda (like Sprite) for tenderness and a citrusy brightness.
Grilling: The marinated meat is threaded onto bamboo skewers and grilled over hot charcoal, which imparts a distinct smoky flavor.
Glaze: During grilling, the skewers are brushed with a special basting sauce, which caramelizes on the meat to create a sticky, glossy, and slightly charred exterior. This glaze often contains banana ketchup, soy sauce, and honey.
Flavor: Each bite is a mix of sweet, savory, and tangy notes, with the juicy, smoky, and tender pork as the star.
Other combo components
Pork lumpia: Two crispy, savory Filipino spring rolls filled with a mixture of ground pork and finely chopped vegetables.
Pansit: A Filipino noodle dish, often a type of stir-fried noodles with meat and vegetables.
