Named after its original owner, Anthony Waldmann, our brewery and wurstery is housed in the oldest surviving commercial building in the Twin Cities—a limestone saloon built in the fall of 1857. Beginning this fall, Waldmann will once again welcome everyone with the warmth of wood fire and lamplight. From hand-hewn woodwork to period engravings, every detail reflects the care and craftsmanship at the soul of this restored pre-Civil War original—including, of course, the beer itself. Using old-world horizontal fermenting techniques and noble and heritage hops, the Waldmann brewing team is making traditional German-style lagers with an approach to recipes and brewing processes that stay true to the building’s 1850s heritage. Pull up an authentic steamboat chair and choose from one of several enduring styles, like pilsner, dunkel and kolsch. Our beer is the perfect complement to tasty bites from the wurstery kitchen, including freshly made sausages, heritage wheat pretzels, and limestone potatoes roasted under a slab of Platteville bedrock. We pride ourselves in carrying on German-inspired cooking traditions using locally sourced ingredients, whenever possible.

Well that’s a wrap folks.

Two weekends, thousands of visitors, thousands of liters of b**r, thousands of pretzels, dozens of dancers, tubas, tapping toes…
We’re so grateful to our ever-expanding family of Waldmann guests and neighbors who make events like this possible.

To our exhausted staff, we send our love and undying gratitude. Nine Oktoberfests and you reinvigorate each one with your energy, patience, and good humor. It’s a lesson well-learned but it bears repeating: all work is noble work. We might be a tiny brewpub, but your work builds community. We need that now more than ever.

We are closed Monday, September 28th, for staff rest and recuperation but we’ll be back open Tuesday the 29th for regular service at noon. See you soon folks. 🍻

Why is this little guy smiling? Because today is Family Day at Waldmann’s 9th Anniversary Oktoberfest, and anyone under 21 enters for free! With both kid- and adult-friendly entertainment and traditional dance by S.G. Edelweiss Dancers in full costume, and the Jolly Huntsmen’s chicken dance and foot-stomping polkas, our Oktoberfest is fun for the whole family! Lore, La**rs and Lotsa Lederhosen!

Our second Oktoberfest weekend is almost here! Join us again as we celebrate the final weekend of Waldmann’s 9th Anniversary Oktoberfest, this Friday and Saturday, noon-10pm and Sunday noon-7pm. Last weekend was a BLAST, with dozens of live musical performances, dancing, great food, record-breaking steinholding competitions and of course, fabulous Märzen Oktoberfest and Festbier! We’ll serve more than 1,300 gallons of b**r at Waldmann’s 9th Anniversary Oktoberfest–and not a drop in a plastic cup. Elevate your b**r and get your first pour ½ PRICE by bringing your own b**r stein, buying our commemorative Oktoberfest glass tankard for only $10, or buying our 9th Anniversary salt glazed steins handmade by Schilz in Westerwald Germany, family-owned since 1661! Our festival runs this Friday through Sunday, and again next weekend. Cut the plastic; keep the fantastic!
