Last week was a lot! Almost one for the record books as far as number of dozens of cookies going out my door— and last week was the same! Fourteen hour days for two weeks straight makes this cookier tired… but happy!

This set was for one of my favorite customers for her daughter’s baby shower. The theme was “Bonjour bébé!” with lots and lots of florals. She sent me many inspiration pictures with cookies she wanted circled. They were all super cute and it was easy to pull together into a cohesive set.

Have a wonderful week everyone! ❤️

This bride-to-be is a figure skating coach and my customer wanted that incorporated in a couple of the designs. I had romance on the brain while designing this set… so I thought the skates looked like they were cuddling. Now I realize that’s just a normal pair of ice skates! But still. It works! 😂

Announcement! Meet Mirabelle, our new puppy!

The story is a bit of a miracle. I had written to Lexie's breeder (who is the absolute best! She is the one that took this video for me.) to ask her to please let us know if she got another shichon puppy that was about Lexie's size. (She is about half the size of most shichons!) She said she would let us know. Nothing for a year and a half.

About a month ago, we had a couple play dates with our friend's puppy. We realized that because Luna is so elderly and arthritic, Lexie really misses active play. TWO DAYS after my husband and I had that discussion about maybe we need a puppy, our breeder wrote saying she had a tiny girl. My heart burst and I knew she was ours.

Then, two weeks ago, Luna passed. It was such a comfort to us to know that in a few short weeks, Lexie was going to get her next sister. We've all had a few very hard weeks to grieve our precious Luna.... and now new life and love is going to enter our family.

Not only that... Lexie and Mirabelle are full siblings! Same mom and dad, different litter obviously. My kids and I are making the 4 hour drive to Iowa to pick her up in exactly one week. I'm beyond excited.

PS. I always feel bad when I say that we get our dogs from a breeder instead of a rescue. But my husband is so allergic that I need or make sure we are getting a full hypoallergenic doggie. No "grandma was a golden retriever" type situation!

I absolutely loved how this set turned out. It came from the cutest inspiration picture (I don’t know who the original artist is so I can’t give them credit)l so I knew how they’d turn out. But I wasn’t prepared for just how adorable they were to look at in person. I literally said out loud— several times- “Oh my gosh, those are so cute.” Fully just complimenting myself. Out loud. 😂

But maybe my favorite part is that they went to the sweetest customer ever. This whole experience was just *chefs kiss*.

These were made for an intern graduation event at Walser Automotive, who have been wonderful customers of mine! I always look forward to their orders.

First I printed the MN license plate, because eek! That would be very hard to hand pipe. 😂 Then I used a font generator to find the correct font and once I figured out how to fit each name, I hand piped those. Then I piped the Walser license plate frame for extra Walser branding!

Last month, I had a 50th birthday open house and made waaaaaaaaaaaay too many cookies for it. Everyone there knew me, so no one was surprised by this. 😂

Choosing which pictures to print was a very emotional experience since it felt like time traveling. I was back in the days my stepfather and grandparents were alive, and my kids were little and with me every day. I soaked in every image and story and I chose the 85 best pictures to tell the story of my life.

Now, are they the best pictures of me? Clearly not, by the looks of that one in the bottom left corner from my teen perm days. But each picture made me laugh (again, reference the perm pic), or cry (my grandma sitting with me while I was on bedrest for 17 weeks). They showed good friends and 30 years of adventures with my husband. And they showed funny stories with my children and sister, which made for fun questions and conversations around the table at my party!

I’m grateful for each and every one of these people and memories. And so happy I get to turn them into cookies to give to all my friends!

PS. I can do this for you too for your birthday party! They were both dessert AND decoration. And they were so fun to give away as parting gifts!

Believe it or not, I had never piped a blueberry before this order! But by the end of this order, it was hard to remember that time. 😂

I actually loved making these, each one sort of coming together organically with their own shape and size. I took a dry paintbrush and added blue powdered dye to the top of each blueberry. That gave each one so much more life and realism.

Have a great day, everyone! Looks gorgeous out there. ❤️

My wonderful customer sent me a picture of baby’s breath themed cookies, and she gave me the color scheme and the three things she wanted written. I took all that and designed this set, which I just love. Worth all the hand cramps! 😂

How did I make those ruffles on the onesie? Well, my friends, it’s simple when you use a piping tip! It’s even the same piping tip I used to make all the flowers, which makes set up and cleaning a little easier. It’s a “petal tip”, meaning it is almost flat and more narrow on one end since petals get more narrow and delicate as the go. Right? Picture a single rose petal. It gets thinner towards to top. You want to achieve that in royal icing flowers as well!

And ruffles. 😀 So, you place the thicker end of the tip right on the onesie so the ruffles also get more delicate as they go. Keep a constant squeeze on the bag and lift up and down, up and down across the cookie. I’ve done this so many times that I add a little shake and fold as I go… and now I’m realizing this is maybe a bit too complicated to describe in words! 😂 Maybe I should make a video or add this technique to the piping flowers class!

Have a wonderful day everyone! ❤️

Sometimes it’s very helpful to be married to a baker!

My husband is leaving his job as a counselor at Hazelton and will now be the program director for The Retreat, a different treatment center here in the cities. He wanted special cookies to give to everyone he has gotten to know in his almost 18 months there.

So he gave me a list of 38 names that included his boss and other counselors and mental health specialists. But this list was also the people behind the scenes that make the place run smoothly, but don’t necessarily get all the glory. The lunch ladies, the barista, the cleaning crew, front desk, and so on.

My customer was not very high maintenance… lucky for me because I live with the guy! 😂 But he said he loves my line drawings, he wanted the name front and center and for it also to say “Grateful for you”.

My husband told me they were very well received and several people exclaimed, “How am I supposed to eat this?!” 😀
