Where does coffee come from?
Most of us don't give it a second thought. We order our favorite drink, and go on with our day.
It's much easier, and often cheaper, for a chain of cafés to purchase coffee the way most other coffee shops do—by contacting a broker or roaster and ordering it at the lowest price for the required quality and quantity. No mess, no fuss. The coffee simply arrives at the doorstep.
However, the method of purchasing coffee has a significant impact on the world. The current system is having disastrous effects on both the planet and the people involved in its production. Coffee, as a result, is under threat.
