Cap’s is about a great dining experience in a peaceful setting. We want our guests to relax and enjoy the view, service and food. We no longer accommodate large parties, because our restaurant is not suited for it. Too many large parties disrupt the flow

of our restaurant and put strain on our kitchen, jeopardizing the experience for other guests. For that reason, we no longer take any parties larger than 6. We do not split up large parties into several different tables, because we cannot guarantee those tables will be served at the same time or will be close together. Dogs

We accommodate trained service animals, but we are not considered a “dog-friendly” restaurant. We serve our drinks in glass ware and there is a lot of foot traffic (including small children). Adding dogs to that mix is a liability for us and the dog’s owner. So please refrain from bringing your dogs to Cap’s. Valet Parking

Parking at Cap’s is challenging, so we decided to switch to complimentary valet parking only. We can fit more cars on our lot and we can also guarantee access for emergency vehicles. Sometimes, when we are at maximum capacity, we have to temporarily close our parking lot. As soon as spaces free up we let guests back in again. We know that is disappointing (especially if you have driven from afar) but we do not want to restaurant to get over-run, jeopardizing the Cap’s experience. We apologize for that inconvenience.

When’s the last time you dined at Cap’s on the Water? Tucked away on Myrtle Street, this iconic St. Augustine eatery has been serving up elevated, fresh seafood for decades. It was originally Prepaul’s Fish Camp – opening in 1947 – and became the Cap’s that we know and love in 1999.

Located on the Intracoastal Waterway, Cap’s offers amazing sunset views, outdoor dining, complimentary valet, dock access, the popular Sunset Oyster Bar, a covered pavilion, and indoor dining.

The night we visited, it had just stopped raining, which made it easy to get a table. We tried the conch fritters with a Thai chili remoulade, blackened flounder with coconut rice and pickled cucumbers, and the pan-seared flounder with garlic roasted potatoes and a citrus brown butter sauce. Make sure to leave room for dessert. We had the Key lime cup. 🍋‍🟩🍨
