Brooklyn digital hardcore quartet Lip Critic roars into Cafe Colonial June 11 with Flatwounds and Bejalvin! Rolling Stone’s review of the current Theft World tour (celebrating their third album Theft World, out May 1), calls them “a band that knows how to make everyone’s heads turn and ears bleed, and even though the world feels like it’s teetering on the brink of collapse, they’re trying to make the most of it.” Tix available now on our new website! MASTER BOOT RECORD is here tonight and honestly there’s not really another band that does what they do. We’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. MBR has built a whole universe around retro computer culture, demoscene art, and video game soundtracks, but underneath is a locked-in live band that absolutely rips.

It starts in the world of heavy metal, but then there are old computers onstage, chiptune melodies, impossible guitar parts, and visuals from a lost cyberpunk arcade game. If you grew up loving old consoles, staying up too late on the internet, extreme music, sci-fi movies, or anything a little strange and obsessive, you’ll probably leave tonight very happy.
