As of May 1st, 2017, J. Arthur’s Coffee is a private, in-house-only coffee shop. Arthur’s Coffee opened in 2008 as a private training and meeting space for ACR employees. We also wanted to be a place where people with disabilities who live in ACR’s homes could come and enjoy a cup of coffee in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. In 2011, we opened our doors to the public with the goal of being a war
m and welcoming place where people with disabilities and the local community could share an exceptional coffee experience. In 2017, we decided to return to our original concept of using J. Arthur’s as a private training and meeting space for employees of ACR Homes, and a social space for the people with disabilities supported at ACR Homes and Arthur’s Residential Care. As much as we will miss serving coffee to our loyal customers from the local community, we look forward to using the space to facilitate more special events and activities for residents during the day, evenings, and weekends, as well as for employee training, meetings, networking, recruiting, hiring and retention events. Supervisors can make use of the space for administrative work. Direct care employees and residents are welcome to pack a picnic lunch and stop in to socialize, read a book, or to play board games.
