Hey FB family -- tonight is going to operate a little differently due a perfect storm of our staffing opportunity and being so busy that we're running into prepped inventory.

We have capped & closed our reservations and will not be accepting walk-ins. I want to preserve the experience for the folks that have made advanced reservations. I hate doing this and I truly appreciate your understanding.

thank you so much,
Maria

A little Filipino American history. A lot of very serious concentration. šŸŖ€šŸ˜‚

Pedro Flores, a Filipino immigrant, helped turn the yo-yo into an American craze in the 1920s. Even the name has Filipino roots! šŸŖ€ The word ā€œyo-yoā€ is believed to come from Ilocano, one of the languages of the Philippines.

So naturally, our Filipino American History Month celebrations needed some hands-on learning.

Some of us remembered how. Some of us apparently needed a refresher.

A big thank-you to Duncan Yo-Yo, who gifted us 100 yo-yos after hearing what we wanted to do. Look at all the fun you helped make happen. ā¤ļø

What was your best yo-yo trick?
And can you still do it?

National Gumbo Day was Monday, but we’re keeping the celebration going with Chef Bill’s gumbo tonight! 🄣

And for Filipino American History Month, this little bag of dried shrimp has a story worth sharing. Note: it says XL but it’s literally the size of my pinky! šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

By the mid-1800s, Saint Malo—a community established by Filipino sailors—had become the largest fishing village on Louisiana’s Lake Borgne.

Later that century, Filipino fishermen led by Quintin de la Cruz established Manila Village in Barataria Bay. It’s said to be the first permanent Filipino community in the US.

Alongside Chinese immigrants, they helped develop Louisiana’s dried-shrimp industry.

Workers dried shrimp on raised platforms, then ā€œdanced the shrimpā€ā€”stepping over them to loosen the shells.

Drying preserved the catch before refrigeration, and those shrimp found their way into local kitchens—including gumbo pots—adding concentrated seafood flavor long after shrimp season ended.

That’s the connection we’re celebrating tonight: the Filipinos who made Louisiana home and helped shape its seafood story.

Come have a bowl with us. There’s Mongolian BBQ, bingo, and karaoke, too. Every Wednesday night! šŸ’›

I was thinking last night how I’m still incredibly in awe over the NYT recognition. How crazy wonderful that of all the places in the country, we were selected as one of the 50 Favorite Places to eat.

And then I woke up to see our very own Arkansas Tourism shout out and it just made me giddy all over again! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

This is the power of local people supporting local people. Thank you for creating this special place with us! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Karaoke and lumpia, anyone? šŸŽ¤ Lasang Pinoy NWA in Destination Rogers was just named to the New York Times Best Restaurants List, and it's the only Arkansas eatery to make the cut. Congratulations to the team at Lasang Pinoy – it's incredible to see a family business getting national recognition, and we're proud that you're putting on the map! What a Tuesday. ā¤ļø

Today we welcomed 145% more guests than our previous busiest Tuesday. For our little family restaurant, that is a BIG day.

But what I’m thinking about tonight is how gracious you were.

Mark was traveling, Lola had an event but came in afterwards to help, Flor called out sick….We had a small crew wearing a lot of hats, and you gave us patience, kindness, and room to catch our breath.

When you’re working hard to take care of everyone, being met with that kind of grace means more than you know.

To everyone who chose to spend part of your Tuesday with us: thank you. For coming through our doors, for bringing people you love, and for making this place feel like the community we hoped it could become.

And to our team: Briley, Jynessa, Seamus, Sebastian, Chef Bill…. Y’all kept cooking, serving, washing, and showing up for each other: I see how much you gave today.

Tired feet. Bad knees. Full heart. Maraming salamat. ā¤ļø
