Hey-eh…it’s Labor Day.
That means the kids don’t have school and it’s kind of the official end of summer…
Although, honestly, around here you wouldn’t be able to tell that summer is supposedly over!
Saturday we ran out of pastries by 10 AM.
And then we had to close for about 10 minutes because we ran out of ice!!!
Shout out to North Beach for getting us straight quickly!
AND to Briggs at Lisa’s Pizzeria for making sure we knew that anytime we ran out of ice we could run over there and grab some!!
And….Yesterday was…. Well, if you were here, you know!
Anyway, I expect the same crazy today!
We are closing at 11 AM!

Last night was “Date Night”, where the Beard Man takes me to eats ridiculous amounts of sushi and then to Gnome Goods for unnecessary seasonal decor.
Although, honestly, I think he gets more joy from going than I do.
He’s like a 12-year-old and has to touch every single thing that has a button. Lights up. Makes noise. Jingles. Whatever!

He also enjoys going through the candle section smelling them and then telling me that I need to make something similar, but better…

Welcome to the long holiday weekend.
The “last” weekend of Summer!
Now, if Mother Nature would kindly start showing a little grace, in the form of some MUCH COOLER WEATHER, that’d be great!
I just cannot with this humidity.
Ugh!
Also, this “gloriously hot” summer that was bestowed upon us, has killed every one of my tomato plants!!

But, I get out of work because I promised the Dictator I would get him after his math test today… the video game that he has been waiting on, is being released today…and while it is a half-day, he wouldn’t be home for the moment it was out.

Sometimes I seriously question my parenting choices. Thus far none of them have turned out terrible so I guess we’re doing OK.

Okay, I just didn’t know if she had any dietary restrictions (she recently had surgery).

I can’t say anything our dogs are also disgusting little beasts who will try and eat anything they can (they are not even kind of underfed).

Example one:
Photo of the fat chocolate lab eating a pup cup.
Anyone else have fat, greedy little beasts who act like they are starved?

Anyway:

We are closed, but I am still here putting out all of the new inventory.
Including just poured candles!
They are not cured yet, but so many people visiting for just a week, have been missing out on desired scents because they are not out on the floor until curing is complete.
I have instead decided to tag them with the date on which they are able to be burned and put them out on the floor.
Burning them before then means that the burn time lessens and the scent is not at its best, but this way you can still get what you want to take home with you. You’ll just have to have a little self control over lighting it too soon!

There are also new “rainy day” activities in the form of painting plaster sea creatures and painting on canvas.

We will see you in the morning with the good stuff!!

Yesterday, due to a clog somewhere, the plumber was here, removing deck boards to check pipes, just as our dairy/produce order arrived. The one that comes through the back door and utilizes that walkway….it got extra fun when UPS also showed up.
Did I mention the store FULL of customers.
Today, we are closed, but not everyone got the memo?
Our ice cream delivery driver had to park in (what will eventually be) Haole Bowls’ parking area and bring it all around due to the number of vehicles in and out.
Then came the septic tanker, and another delivery, the lawn crew, waiting on UPS & FedEx & the return of the plumber….
I swear it NEVER slows down around here!!
It’s September first.
It’s apples and pumpkins and acorn time!!
I wanted to make the Beard take me to lunch and Gnome Goods for BWG stuff, but with everything happening we cannot leave.

Anyway, we are closed, I am making candles in the nice cool candle making room, because it is freakishly hot outside, and I HATE being sweaty!

The sooner you arrive, the more likely you are able to have coffee…because, as soon as we are out of milk, we will close.
I apparently didn’t order enough dairy on Friday.
Except, I did.
I was NOT expecting it to still be this busy the last weekend of August!
