A little housekeeping from Chef: ASC will be closed tomorrow, Sunday, October 11.

It’s been a wonderful, full week, and I’m tired. Tomorrow, I’m putting down the apron for a much-needed day of rest.

Thank you for filling our tables and for understanding when Chef needs to sit at her own for a minute.

There is a gentleman who sits at our table nearly every day. Stoic. A creature of habit. His panini, his lunch, his little piece of the day.

When the quarter changes, he usually trusts us to help him find his next sandwich.

This time, we haven’t found it.

He loved his Arbor Road. And with this new menu, every detail seemed to become a sticking point. The flavors. The combinations. The price. Nothing quite landed.

I took it hard. Probably harder than he realizes. Monica Ann took it hard. Chef was just irritated

Every quarter, I push myself and this kitchen a little further. I want to introduce you to a flavor you haven’t tried, a combination you wouldn’t have ordered elsewhere, something you didn’t know you needed in your life until it arrived at your table.

There is a lot of me in this menu. So yes, criticism can get right past the chef coat and hit Monica Ann squarely in the soul.

But I also have to understand that everyone will not embrace every direction I take. A guest can love this shop and still miss his sandwich.

Today, I finally asked him what he wanted. He wanted his sandwich.
He had been telling me that all along. I was still trying to find him something new to love.

So I told him to come have lunch tomorrow. I’ll have his components prepared, on a dedicated tray in the walk-in, ready to make his sandwich.

That is something we can do.
This shop is in the business of saying yes. If we have the ingredients, a few moments, and the bandwidth, we will try to make it happen for you.

I’m still excited about Q4. There are dishes on this menu I cannot wait for you to taste.
And tomorrow, I’ll also be making an Arbor Road for a gentleman who already knows what he loves. It wil be the only Arbor Road secret menu item available for exactly one guest. And that is okay.

A little housekeeping note from Chef. Please read.

Today’s Creamy Taco Soup sold out in one hour and fifteen minutes—much of it by the quart. You came hungry, and we appreciate it. Thank you for trusting the process and celebrating National Taco Day with us.

A few requests also landed in our Facebook inbox while we were prepping and serving, so let’s talk about how to secure your portion before it leaves with someone else.

**Our daily menu is posted by 9 a.m. See something you want? Call the shop directly.** If it’s available, we can take your order, pull it, and tuck it into the walk-in until you arrive. Once we confirm your order, that portion is yours. Literally, it's ok to call the shop early -Chef is there before the sun is up, and takes all calls, unless she is on a Food Lion run.

**Please do not place orders through Facebook messages or comments. Those are not ordering channels, and a message does not reserve food.**

Our morning prep schedule is tightly structured so we can open our doors ready to serve at 11 a.m. Once we open, our attention belongs to the kitchen, our team, and the guests at our tables. Facebook is not monitored during prep or service.

We post sold-out updates when we can. But seeing a soup on the morning menu does not guarantee it will still be available at 1:30 or 2. We make our soups in batches, and when a batch is gone, it is gone.
