As you can see the batches are not very big. Each batch of ice cream takes love, patience, and over 2.5 hours! We plan to make a video in the near future! 🎥

Our next Rooted in Rock Springs feature is maddy's artisanal ice cream and more, located at 756 Pilot Butte Avenue in Downtown Rock Springs.

Maddy's specializes in small-batch, artisanal ice cream made from scratch, featuring everything from familiar favorites like chocolate, vanilla and strawberry to creative flavors inspired by Mexican traditions and tropical fruits. Think mamey, coconut, mango, key lime pie, mazapán, mangonada and more! With more than 40 flavors in their collection and a rotating selection, there's always something new to try.

But what makes Maddy's especially meaningful is the story behind the name.

The family's ice cream tradition dates back to 1963, when Manuel González Hernandez began creating the recipe that would become the foundation of today's business. The name Maddy's honors both Manuel and Addilyn Nichole López González, carrying forward a family legacy while celebrating Addilyn's memory. It's a beautiful reminder that behind many of our local storefronts are personal stories, family histories and dreams that mean so much more than the products being sold.

And there's more than ice cream! Maddy's also offers a selection of Mexican pastries and other specialty treats, bringing additional flavors and traditions to our Downtown dining scene.

We also love seeing another family-owned business invest in Downtown Rock Springs. The property at 756 Pilot Butte Avenue has been part of our façade improvement efforts, helping demonstrate how local entrepreneurship and Downtown revitalization can go hand in hand.
