In Rock Hill, South Carolina, there is an old-school neighborhood grill where a hot dog ordered “all the way” means exactly what locals hope it does. Ebenezer Grill serves its classic dogs tucked into soft buns and piled with chili, slaw, mustard and onions, creating the simple combination that has kept customers coming back for years.

Come earlier in the day and breakfast is another reason to stop. Biscuits covered in sausage gravy, sausage links, fresh omelets and other made-to-order plates fill the tables with the kind of straightforward Southern comfort food that never really goes out of style.

The building has been part of the neighborhood since the early 1930s. Over the years, it became a community store with gas pumps out front before eventually developing into the restaurant people know today.

Inside, there is plenty of seating, while additional parking behind the building helps accommodate busy breakfast and lunch crowds. Regulars may fill the tables, but the experienced staff keeps things moving.

Generous portions, affordable prices and a casual atmosphere make Ebenezer Grill feel less like a trendy restaurant and more like the neighborhood gathering place it has long been.

One important tip before you go: bring cash. Ebenezer Grill is cash only.
