If you have any tabs collected at home please bring them to The Midway and I will make sure they make it to the competition! Let’s break a record this year!
TODAY IS BARREL DELIVERY DAY! 💛
Today, barrels will be delivered throughout the Canton and Troy Area School Districts, and tomorrow, Thursday, October 1st, the 2026 TAB WARS officially begin!
The barrels are ready. The schools are ready. And this year, we’re chasing a goal bigger than anything Tab Wars has ever attempted:
3,649 pounds of tabs—the Guinness World Record.
That means adding more than 750 pounds to last year’s total. Every tab matters, and every collection, family, school, community, and alumnus can help us make history.
But before we begin this year, I want to take a moment to reflect on how Tab Wars became what it is today.
Six years ago, this started with two schools:
Canton and Troy.
Two schools competing to see who could collect the most tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Danville.
In 2021, the kids collected 1,332 pounds.
Then came 2,062 pounds in 2022.
1,992 pounds in 2023.
2,622 pounds in 2024.
And an unbelievable 2,892 pounds in 2025.
And honestly, I give the kids so much credit for all of this.
They were the ones who got fired up about those little tabs. They were the ones who turned it into a competition, talked about it, collected them, and made it matter. Of course, they had help along the way—from teachers, administrators, staff, families, and everyone across both districts who encouraged them and helped create the space for this to grow.
But the excitement started with the kids.
Then something shifted.
The parents got fired up, too.
Families began collecting together. Parents started bringing tabs from work, asking friends and relatives to save them, and finding new ways to get involved. What began as something the kids were excited about became something entire families wanted to be part of.
Year after year, the totals grew. But somewhere along the way, Tab Wars became much bigger than Canton vs. Troy.
These two schools brought communities together.
They brought the NTL together.
And then something happened that we never could have imagined when this began:
Tabs started coming from all over the United States.
They traveled on vacations. They were collected at businesses, sporting events, schools, campgrounds, restaurants, and family gatherings. People mailed them, saved them all year, and encouraged family and friends in other states to join in.
Alumni got alumni involved.
Former students carried Tab Wars with them wherever life took them, sharing the tradition with new communities, coworkers, friends, and family members across the country.
Something that started with kids in two schools became a movement powered by thousands of people, all contributing one small tab at a time.
And so many of you shared pictures with our board members over the past year, showing where your tabs traveled and where you collected them.
We want to see those pictures again!
Please share them in the comments on this post. Whether your picture is from Pennsylvania or somewhere across the country, we would LOVE to see just how far Tab Wars has reached. 💛
Now, that history brings us to this year—and a goal we have never attempted before.
The current Guinness World Record is 3,648 pounds of tabs.
Our goal is 3,649 pounds.
That means adding more than 750 pounds to last year’s total. Canton and Troy may be the two schools battling it out, but reaching 3,649 pounds will take ALL of us.
Every school.
Every community.
Every family.
Every alumnus.
Every collection.
Every tab.
And when we started talking about this year and who we wanted the 2026 Tab Wars to honor, we kept coming back to what Tab Wars really represents.
Community.
Kids inspiring adults. People helping people. And thousands of people doing one very simple thing because, together, those simple things can make a pretty incredible difference.
And that is what brought us to Christine Woodward.
Christine was a beloved Troy teacher, a mom, a friend, and someone whose loss was felt throughout this entire community. Her children have continued to carry her memory and her words with them.
“Live Simply.”
The more we talked about it, the more it just made sense.
Because really… what could be simpler than saving a tab?
One tab doesn’t seem like much.
But then someone else saves one.
And someone else does.
A classroom joins in. Then a school. Then another school. Families join. Businesses join. Communities join. People hundreds of miles away start saving them.
And suddenly those little tabs weigh thousands of pounds.
That is Tab Wars.
So this year, as we try to do something that has never been done before, we will do it in Christine’s memory and carry those two words with us:
LIVE SIMPLY.
One community.
Two schools.
Thousands and thousands of people.
And a group of kids who got excited about one little tab—and showed all of us what can happen when that excitement spreads. 💛
🚨 ALL tabs must be delivered to the schools by 10:00 AM on Friday, October 30th.
Today, the barrels go out.
Tomorrow… IT’S ON, CANTON & TROY!
Let’s make history together.
3,649 pounds. 💛
