Beginning in the 1980s thru the early 1990s we operated a conventional row crop and confinement hog operation producing pork for IBP and later Tyson Foods. As a result of a family health matter, we became aware of the problems that plague our conventional food system and how it is affecting the wellbeing of consumers. Through our personal life experiences we have come to the belief that how we manage our soil, plants and animals will directly affect the physical and mental health of those who consume the products of our farming choices. In the late 1990s we embarked on a journey to transition our farm to a sustainable multi-species pasture based farming and direct marketing operation. After years of much effort, learning and dedication, our vision was eventually realized as a successful farm-to-consumer food business that thousands of dedicated patrons know as Seven Sons Family Farms. The vocation of bringing food to your table is not just a business to us, but also a personal ministry and responsibility that we take very seriously! Because of the overwhelming support we are now grateful to partner with a small fellowship of carefully selected farmers and artisans that are committed to producing livestock according our specific standards. We invest time to visit and develop trusting relationships with our partnering farms in order to ensure the quality and integrity of our products. It is also our desire to provide any needed mentorship and support to our farms as we seek to build a likeminded community of producers that share a common goal of enriching their lands through sustainable farming practices that result in wholesome nutrient-dense foods. The Regenerative Investor Club is about more than prepaying for future food. It’s helping us put the infrastructure in place to build a more regenerative food system for the long term. 🐔

Here’s where we’re putting that investment:

1. Building a regenerative feed mill
A hub for farmers in our region who are transitioning their grain production to regenerative practices.

2. Building a network of regenerative grain farmers
Creating a reliable supply of regeneratively grown grain for poultry feed.

3. Building the next generation of poultry housing
The photo above is one of our first Silvopasture coops, already under construction at a partner farm in Ohio. We’re developing a year-round poultry system that combines the protection of a barn with outdoor and silvopasture access.

Together, these projects are the foundation of Project Regenerative Poultry, our vision for connecting the soil, grain, feed, bird, and ultimately the food on your table.

Investor Club members receive bonus credit toward future food purchases, so your investment helps fund this work while giving you credit toward food for your family.

Enrollment closes tonight. If you’ve been thinking about joining, now’s the time!

BIG NEWS! We’re opening up the Regenerative Investor Club again for year two. 🌱🚨🥩

It’s an easy way to get more out of the food you’re already buying, while also supporting our farm.

Here’s how it works: you prepay for the food you’re already going to buy, we add 10–15% bonus credit to your account, and your deposit helps us move the next generation of regenerative projects forward. It’s a win for your family and a win for the farm.

Last year’s spots filled quickly! Enrollment closes September 30. https://sevensons.net/regenerative-investor

One thing about pigs, they’ll find the shade when they need it. ☀️

Found these guys taking it easy this morning.

Organic and regenerative aren’t the same thing.

Organic standards focus largely on what isn’t used. Regenerative agriculture asks a bigger question: What are we doing to actively improve the health of the soil, animals, and ecosystem?

At Seven Sons, that means 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, lamb, and bison. It means keeping animals on pasture, rotating them through fresh grass, and managing the land in a way that builds healthier soil and more resilient ecosystems.

We’ve chosen to build our own standards around these practices rather than simply meeting a label because we believe the goal of farming shouldn’t just be to do less harm. It should be to leave the land better than we found it.

We think taking care of yourself starts with caring about what you put on your plate.

That means knowing where your food comes from, how the animals were raised, what they were fed, and how the land was cared for along the way.

You don’t have to be an expert or get everything right. Just start asking questions and paying a little more attention to where your food comes from. 🍽️

August has been a busy month around here. We’ve hosted a couple more Farm to Fork dinners, welcomed some new chicks, started prepping for winter, and launched a new product (chicken bacon 🥓).

There’s always a lot happening behind the scenes, from long days in the warehouse to enjoying the little moments that make August in Indiana so good.

People ask us all the time what the animals eat during an Indiana winter. 🐄 The answer is a whole lot of hay.

We’re getting this building retarped so we can keep it dry and ready for the months when the pasture isn’t as lush.

The reviews are in. 😂🐔🥓 Brandt asked the team to try our newest product: chicken bacon.

Crispy. Lean. And apparently some people would actually choose it over pork bacon?!

We’ll let you decide for yourself. Chicken Bacon is available now!

Every now and then someone asks if our dad, Lee, is still active on the farm. The answer is yes. 🚜 These past few months, he’s been busy baling hay and straw. It’s a job all of us brothers grew up helping with.

Much of the straw will be saved and used for bedding for our cattle or hogs, while the hay he’s baled will be stored and saved for those late winter months to supplement grasses consumed during the winter here in Indiana.
