Greetings
We have good news and bad news. Which would you like first?
Ok.
The good news:
Your unbelievable efforts have paid off. In only a few days, more than 2,100 of you (just the online petition alone) spoke and the powers that be not only heard you, they listened to you. We were granted a new, 3 year contract. Thank you!
The bad news:
We will still be closing this Friday September 24th. When our initial contract talks ended unsuccessfully, many things were put in motion, some things that are not easily reversed (ie. our staff sought and secured employment elsewhere, vendors were notified of the shuttering of our store, etc.)
The good news:
We are getting a minor renovation that will make our space more functional. More room for additional goodies and even faster service than you're already used to.
The bad news:
Reno's take time. Have you seen the classic movie "The Money Pit'? Two Weeks!! Actually a bit more, but fingers crossed, we'll be back.
The good news:
We've merged with our roaster, Higher Grounds. The coffees you've loved are the coffees we will have. There will be more on-site baking, all of your fall pumpkin drinks are coming and after a long, long time, BAGELS! We'll break out the toaster once again. Also, as soon as staffing allows, the plan is to begin Saturday hours for the weekend warriors once again.
The bad news:
Do you watch the news? We are suffering from the same problem many companies are having. No one is applying for jobs, continuing shortages, (you've noticed our iced drink cups for one) shortages of crucial ingredients. The staffing shortages make maintaining consistent hours of operation a near impossibility. So when we do return, we apologize and thank you in advance for your patience as things level out.
The good news:
There is one thing we all have in common. We all get up every day trying to do our best, hoping we make a difference. Many days go by where we wonder if anyone even notices. But we push through seemingly impossible days anyway knowing it's the right thing to do. Your petition, and especially the hundreds of comments within it, let us know in the most certain of terms, that you noticed us, that we matter. What a luxury, what a gift and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Our hope for you is that you too would receive that resounding assurance of your true worth. You matter, we see you and appreciate the difference you make every day.
Thank you again,
Bob & Mary Buckley
