I had a most marvelous day in Rome today and it had nothing to do with sightseeing. It began by walking with Allen to his 8:30 am class at LUISS - a private university where he is teaching Russian politics this semester. He is such a good teacher and presents such thought provoking material. His students love him.
This afternoon I attended a book club presentation on the American author Edgar Allen Poe. The surroundings of the Center for Americsn Studies was palatial. The conversation was in Italian and people could either be present outside on zoom. The lady who “happened” to sit next to me does tours of Rome and Sardegna. As you can imagine we exchanged contact information. 😄
The next book they’ve chosen is The House of the Seven Gables
