Hi, I’m Lisa, the owner of Sprinkles Concessions!
I started this adventure in 2018 after years of coordinating Wildwood Days. One thing I always noticed was that while we had plenty of vendors and great food, there wasn’t always something fun that was just for the kids. One day I had a wild idea—why not buy a shaved ice machine and give it a try?
My very first event was Apple Harvest, and from that day on, I was hooked. I absolutely fell in love with it.
I was born and raised in Rio Dell and have lived in Humboldt County my entire life. This is where my husband and I raised our family, and we’ve spent 30 years serving our community through the Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department. Giving back has always been a big part of who we are, and that’s exactly how I look at Sprinkles Concessions.
Of course, every business has to make money to stay open, but I’ve always tried to keep my prices affordable because I know many families have more than one child. If I can offer a little price break and make it easier for everyone to enjoy a treat, that’s important to me.
I also try to support a wide variety of community events throughout Humboldt County, even when I know they may not be my biggest money-makers. To me, supporting local events helps keep our communities strong. Sometimes it isn’t about making the biggest profit—it’s about seeing a kid’s face light up over a colorful shaved ice or hearing someone say they’re glad you came. Those moments make it worthwhile.
Looking back, it’s amazing how much this little business has grown. I started with a tent and a $300 shaved ice machine. Today, I have a vending truck that’s just a few steps away from becoming a fully mobile shaved ice truck. Over the years, I’ve upgraded to commercial equipment, including my shaved ice machine and cotton candy machine, and I’ve invested much of what the business has earned right back into making it better.
Every improvement has been made with my customers in mind making service faster, creating a better experience, and making events run more smoothly. One of my favorite additions is the self-serve flavor station. It’s become a customer favorite and keeps the line moving so families spend less time waiting and more time enjoying the event.
Sprinkles Concessions has never been just about shaved ice. It’s about being part of the community that has given so much to me over the years. I’m incredibly grateful for every event coordinator who has invited me, every customer who has stopped by my window, and every family who has made Sprinkles part of their memories.
Thank you for supporting my small business. I truly appreciate every single one of you, and I look forward to serving Humboldt County for many years to come.
