Lots of new faces here since last week and I'm so thankful you decided to follow along!
I figured today I could reintroduce myself and tell you a little bit about what working with us looks like.
So first, my name is Martha, and my husband Aaron and I have owned Jordan's Bar & Grill for going on 17 years now. Catering by JBG was born when some very important to me people (Alexis and her husband Taven who I've known since he was a kid) reached out to see if I wanted to cater their wedding. I have extensive catering experience thanks to a stint at a banquet hall in college, and have picked up a few jobs since we opened the bar, but I didn't realize until that amazing wedding just how very much I LOVE doing this. From that day forward there was no question in my mind that this was a service Jordan's needed to offer, and since then, I've got to do what feels like the equivalent of playing while catering some fabulous weddings, anniversary parties, corporate lunches, funerals, football parties, and pretty much anything anyone has thrown my way.
So why us, when you're planning your next event? Here are some things I do differently:
š„ It may sound tedious, but I require a quick consultation before I start working on your event. I want to know upfront what your goals are, both thematically and financially. I want to know your favorite foods. Dietary needs. I want to know if there's something you really want to see on the menu, be it an old family recipe, or something you ate on your first date. Your event is custom to you. That's why...
š„ You will never see just a price list and food list unless it's a special event we're running that you can order that day. While I work with templates I created, I tweak them for every person. Prices are contingent on a lot of things, including number of guests, location, if we have access to an on site kitchen, how in depth of service you want, if it's an 'off season day' ... etc... everything is tailored to YOU and right out of the gate I try to add as much customization as possible.
š„ We go out of our way to make sure that no two events in the region will ever have the exact same menu. We want people talking about YOUR event, not saying... oh this reminds me of a wedding I went to last month. I try to throw out some high concept ideas here and there that get retired as soon as someone chooses it for their party, but I am also always happy to cook the classics and make them AMAZING.
š„ We are upfront about pricing from day one. After your consultation, I put together a package for you. The last page has a contract spelling everything out. I am happy to crunch the final math before you even commit. There are no hidden charges you'll incur or price raises once you book us. The only way the price would go up is if you decide to add on elements closer to the date, which we are more than happy to accommodate!
š„ We go out of our way to encourage you to shop around before committing. There are a LOT of strong catering options in our region and they all make AWESOME food. You will never hear us bash another business. This is a massive investment, and planning your event should be enjoyable. Go shop! See what's out there! Find your unicorn caterer. I'll touch back in a few weeks after an initial consultation or if someone else is requesting the same date, but "we went with someone else" makes me happy that you found what you were looking for, even if it wasn't with us.
š„ If you book me for your wedding, I'm all yours from Wednesday of that week on. This is a hard rule in my book, because we run a tight team, and white glove service all the way. The beauty of this model is, if you want to add on a rehearsal dinner package, a late night munch option, a grazing table, or any of our other services, we can put all our effort into delivering a professional product.
š„ We love staging, decorating, and bells and whistles. A kind mentor of mine told me I needed to work on my presentation, and I never looked back. Give us an inch, and we'll take it as far as you allow.
š„ I don't like to say no, and I only do when I absolutely have to. If you decide the week before you're throwing a gathering and don't want to cook for it, reach out. If I'm not already booked, I can make a lot of things happen. Some events pop up quick, for example, funerals, and making your time of need a little easier is important to me.
š„ and last but not least - FOOD COMES FIRST! Real food, sourced as locally as possible, whole ingredients, real butter, salt, fresh herbs, hand picked produce, made from scratch whenever we can... there is no corner cutting when it comes to delivering something high quality and delicious! Food safety is a priority around here and we take it very seriously!
If you read all that and still want to work with us, please don't hesitate to reach out via messenger, phone, or email to get the ball rolling. We will gladly honor 2026 pricing for any events for next year booked before January 1, 2027. From showers to grad parties to everything in between, I look forward to hearing from you!!
