🍂❤️ Heading Into the Weekend With Nearly Empty Shelves

Weekends are our busiest time at the Little Porch Pantry, and right now, our shelves are VERY empty. We need our Richmond community!

The need continues to grow, and food insecurity affects only neighbors who work every day—families, childcare educators, cashiers, seniors, and others trying to make ends meet while gas and grocery prices keep climbing.

As we head into fall and the holiday season approaches, please consider giving a little if you can:

🛒 Cleaning out your pantry? Donate unopened items you won’t use.
🛒 Heading to the grocery store? Pick up a few extras for your neighbors.
❤️ Every can, box, and bag makes a difference.

It’s Homecoming weekend in Richmond, and as so many come home to celebrate, we’re reminded of what makes a community feel like home—neighbors taking care of neighbors.

We’ve been out of town and want to give a huge thank-you to everyone who continued to support the Little Porch Pantry while we were away. ❤️ You kept the shelves going, and we are so grateful!

As fall sets in and grocery prices continue to climb, there are more and more families who need a little extra help.

So as you’re out shopping this weekend, please think of your neighbors who may be struggling. A few extra items can make a big difference.

Because Homecoming isn’t just about coming back to Richmond—it’s about coming together for Richmond. ❤️

❤️ Heading Into Sunday With Empty Shelves

We’re heading into Sunday with very empty shelves at the Little Porch Pantry, and we could really use our community’s help.

Gas and grocery prices are up, and we’re all feeling the squeeze. But imagine that pressure for families living paycheck to paycheck—many working essential jobs like childcare educators, cashiers, food service workers, home health aides, and custodians.

We’re seeing more and more of our neighbors needing a little help, and it’s becoming harder to keep the shelves filled.

We have plenty of pasta right now, so pasta sauce and canned proteins like chicken, tuna, and ham are especially helpful. But truly, anything helps. ❤️

Thank you for continuing to take care of our neighbors. It takes all of us to keep our community fed.

❤️ Our Community Needs Us

It saddens us to know that so many people across our country are facing food insecurity—and that the need continues to grow.

We are seeing it more and more every day at the Little Porch Pantry.

When we first started this community project, we were often blessed with an abundance of donations and overstocked shelves. Today, we are barely keeping those shelves filled. More and more of our neighbors are turning to the pantry for help putting food on the table.

With changes and cuts affecting supplemental food benefits, we know the need may become even greater for families already struggling to make ends meet.

We are incredibly grateful for the people in this community who continue to step up and support their neighbors. ❤️ Every donation matters. Every grocery bag, every can, every loaf of bread, and every dollar helps.

It truly takes all of us to keep our community fed.

If you’re able, please consider picking up a few extra pantry items on your next grocery trip. And if you’re struggling yourself, please know that the Little Porch Pantry is here for you—no questions, no judgment.

Our pantry shelves are LOW, LOW right now, and we could really use our community’s help restocking. ❤️

We have plenty of pasta, so right now we especially need pasta sauces and protein—canned chicken, tuna, ham, etc.—to help turn what we already have into easy, filling meals for our neighbors.

Some of our biggest needs right now:
🍝 Pasta sauce
🥫 Canned meat & other protein
🥛 Shelf-stable milk
🍞 Bread
🥜 Peanut butter & jelly
🥫 Soup & crackers
🍎 Canned fruit
🥞 Pancake mix & syrup
🍪 Kid-friendly snacks
🍲 Easy shelf-stable meals

But please know—ANY pantry item is appreciated! One can, one loaf of bread, or a few items from your grocery cart can make a difference to a family who needs a little help right now.
