Here we are...exactly eight years after the Horst family took over the little diner in Richland! In some ways it feels like 2 years ago, in other ways it feels like 20.

So many good people to thank for getting us through 8 years; Mom and Dad, because this wouldn't have happened without them and their help in taking over a business at such a young age.

To all the fantastic employees over the years; those folks are the bones of the place. Many of those from the early days helped establish our systems and practices that helped us to be as efficient as possible to serve you all in a timely manner. If you happened to drive by back then, there is a good chance you may have seen us throwing pancake frisbees in the parking lot or chasing a coworker with a bottle of whipped cream!😄 Guess that's what happens when everyone who worked there was 20 or under and that prefrontal cortex was still in its formative years!

To all our wonderful customers. That first day back in 2018 we served 143 customers...today was well over 400! If that doesn't tell you we have great customers then I'm not sure what to tell you! Some of you all have stuck around from Day 1 and honestly that deserves some sort of an award because looking back we had no idea what we were doing. Not like we have it all figured out now, but we certainly have learned many things along the way and still a lot to learn in the future!

And most importantly to our Heavenly Father who is the Giver of all good things. There were many times when it seemed things just weren't going to work out but somehow it always did. Those things don't always "just happen." He was faithful then, He is faithful now.

We have just a few more days here in this building so you have until next Friday to come fight your way to the door for a table...I'm not even kidding it's chaos around here these days!😄

After almost 8 years of serving you wonderful people, the Railroad Diner has an exciting announcement to share.

I'm sure by now most of you know that we have been planning a rebuilding project for the diner. Our current building has served us well but in the last few months/years we've pushed this building to its capacity and beyond. An old building like this has many quirks that even you all as customers have had to put up with; a cold dining room in the winter and hot one in the summer, as well as a small kitchen that makes it difficult to serve you quickly during peak service hours. So we are excited for a fresh start.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℝ𝕒𝕚𝕝𝕣𝕠𝕒𝕕 𝔻𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕣'𝕤 𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕠𝕗 𝕠𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕓𝕖 𝕠𝕟 𝕄𝕒𝕪 𝟚𝟡 𝕒𝕤 𝕨𝕖 𝕓𝕖𝕘𝕚𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕣𝕠𝕠𝕞 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥'𝕤 𝕥𝕠 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖.

This isn't goodbye, it's simply a new chapter. We're working at creating an environment that allows us to continue serving you all for years to come.

We'll be sharing updates along the way once construction begins later this summer. We are working on something big right now and we can't wait to share it with you...but until then we hope to see you before May 29 to share a few more meals with us in the place where so many memories were made!

Have you tried our special for the month of March yet? The BUTCHER BURGER is loaded with pepper jack cheese, bacon, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and lettuce all on a brioche roll and served with a side of pineapple salsa, fries and a pickle.

Spent a little time in the bakery this morning and we came up with BLUEBERRY CRUMBLE ROLLS. A sweet bread with blueberry filling, cream cheese, & streusel crumbs rolled up and topped with a sweet glaze. Come start your day off on a sweet note!

Good morning folks! Come see us for breakfast this week and enjoy the SACRAMENTO BREAKFAST MELT. Two fried eggs, bacon, spinach, tomato, avocado, cheddar cheese, and sriracha on grilled sourdough bread. It is full of flavor and a great way to kick off the day!
