Our Last duo Kook Dogg squad owners 💥💥
Hi, I am Walt Hodges and this is my wife Karen. My experience in the food service industry began making popcorn and serving hotdogs at our family business, the Sunset Drive-In Theater in Bailey’s Crossroads in the late 1960s and early 1970s. After that I got a little sidetracked with school and medical practice for the next 50 years, but I’m making a comeback! After practicing
as an Ob/Gyn and delivering over 5,000 babies at Inova Fairfax and Inova Fair Oaks hospital between 1993 and 2023, my focus has shifted to delivering the best pizzas and sandwiches in Northern Virginia. Karen Hodges is not a Virginia native, but has lived here for 35 years, and qualifies as a member of the Kook Squad simply by virtue of her Los Angeles birthplace. Since
most Californians (particularly Valley Girls) tend to be on the “Earthy-Crunchy” side, you can be assured that Karen will always insist on healthy options and gluten-free alternatives.

Fun facts:
- Karen and I met during our freshman year at Duke University in 1982 and have been married for 38 years.
- We have three grown children and two grandchildren ages 6 and 4.
- While family is always first for Karen, tennis and golf run a close second.
- I worked with Noël for the last 15 years in Labor and Delivery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
- If you have a birth certificate signed: Walter J. Hodges, Jr., MD, bring it with you and get a free

Hi, I’m Noël Kuchler, you will see me in all kinds of roles at the restaurant. I always joke that I married into the restaurant world 15 years ago as I had never had any experience prior. I have now served, bartended, made the carrot cake, helped with events and catering and more at Paul’s previous restaurant Maplewood Grill. I am the person behind our social media posts and love the following we already have. My biggest excitement is for people to experience the amazing dishes that Paul creates. The way he blends ingredients and comes up with ideas is inspiring!!

Some fun facts:
- I am a Labor and Delivery nurse for 15 years now
- I love having dance parties with our 2 boys who already have a love for music like me
- I am a born local as well
- My favorite foods are tacos and anything Lebanese (my fathers culture)

Kicking off the Kook Dogg Squad💥💥

Hi! I’m Paul Kuchler and I am one of the owners and the visionary behind the name and magic at Kook Dogg Cafe. I have been in the restaurant business my whole life. I have worked from the ground up since age 12 at my fathers restaurant in Vienna starting as a dishwasher all the way up to restaurant owner/head chef. With this experience I bring a unique blend of creativity, expertise and dedication to every dish that will be offered at Kook Dogg Cafe. I have poured my heart and soul into building this concept from crafting the menu to my overall vision of the restaurant and my commitment to excellence. I couldn’t have made this restaurant come to life without my amazing team, my wife Noel Kuchler and business partners Walter and Karen Hodges.

A fun fact about the name of the restaurant that dates back about 30 years ago. With my last name being Kuchler I became “The Kook Dogg” within my close groups of friends, many of whom I am still friends with today and were ecstatic to see this nickname come to life!

It is my passion and goal to create not just a restaurant, but a gathering place where people can come together to share good food, laughter and memories. I hope you continue to follow us through our journey and dine at Kook Dogg Cafe when we open.

I am a born local growing up in Arlington and Ashburn VA
I like to be adventurous and enjoy the outdoors by hiking, fishing, camping
