Stained Glass photo drop and class pitch!
When Shamble Studio opened just 4 months ago in beautiful downtown Republic, Washington I didn't yet have kilns, and so the first classes I offered were stained glass. Although I've made stained glass for about 25 years, I'd kind of given it up when I learned fused glass so I had to reteach myself.
Kelly, Andrew, Kim, and Ruth were my guinea pigs, that first session, and we all learned a LOT together! Since that time, I've had four more sessions with between two and five students each, Kelly has continued to come to the studio several times each week and is working on her 4th project, Andrew has his 2nd project planned (and I have his 3rd and 4th projects planned LOL), MO and Ruth completed their final projects, 6 students are working on their final projects, and I have made a few more pieces as well.
Along the way how the class is being taught has evolved as I have learned how long each aspect takes and what folks want to get out of the class. Honestly, this course is the ultimate "you get out of it, what you put into it." What I've realized is that learning the individual skills is what happens with the practice project and that after you've taken that first class, I can help you make a "final project" anytime you like. I can help you design and execute a pattern that you can do on your own timeline vs in a class. So ... what was a two day class is now a one day class with a month of studio time afterward. I think this is going to work out better for everyone and it will allow more people to participate, as they don't have to set aside 2 specific days, 2 weeks in a row. Something else I realized is that teaching a class with two people is a lot of fun. So if you and a buddy want to take a stained glass class, give me a call and let's set up a time to make it happen.
Costs
Class: $189 (with tax). This includes all materials to make a 5x5 practice project of the instructors choosing and 4+ hours of instruction, studio time, and the use of tools. Taking this class teaches the tool use and safety practices and the basics of everything you need to know which entitles you to the use of the studio to make projects.
Projects: 10x10 or smaller $75 (with tax). This includes all (basic) materials, consultation/pattern design, support during all aspects of ex*****on, and use of tools, storage, and one month studio time to complete the project. There are some materials which will cost extra: glass from the top shelf, special orders, specialty items, etc.
P.S. We have gift certificates! The first glass class I ever took was given to me as a gift!
