Enormous heartfelt thanks to decades of friends & supporters who attended Paul Rollinger's Celebration of Life, yesterday , Sunday Aug 30. The literal crowds who came by to share their love and memories of Paul...or just sweet support of me as now a youngish widow moved me to tears of joy. Friends & corner employees from the old Jet City Espresso...where Paul was a vibrant part, Liberty cafe, Kayak Academy, Cascade Canoe & Kayak, Soundrowers, fellow volunteers from Sustainable Renton, former subcontractors from Paul's floor covering and remodeling days, amazing neighbors from surrounding businesses like Obelisk Piercing, Common Ground (thanks for the cupcakes!) The Rose, the Local 907, Handsome Devil Tattoo, even our storage landlord (thank you Lenny!) came out....as well as some of our local artists and musicians who've graced the walls and ears of Jet City and Liberty ( thank you Anna, Peter, David, Frida, Helga, Mark...who you might have seen watercoloring out front. Some traveled from as far as Bellingham, Port Orchard, Marysville, Shine Beach Hood Canal, Kenmore, Edmonds, Snoqualmie, Seattle and Tacoma.. It was a mega reunion filled with great memories and story sharing.
I could never have pulled this off without the incredible many day assistance and support from dear friends, neighbors like Naiomi & Lucas of Obelisk, Renton luminaries and forever favorite baristas like Brandie, Mike, my incredible current liberty staff Eva and Gwen, and Paul's ever helpful and generous sister, Beth. I'm probably omitting some other equally important treasured friends...my apologies...but more than anything.. the hugest of thanks to all. I think we all felt Paul smiling down from the heavens. That was a party that surely had Paul's spirit. If you didn't get a chance, stop by Liberty to share your favorite Paul memory or even picture in the notebook we have for him.
