Dearest Otto's Public House,
This one has taken some time to respond to because it clearly comes from a deep place of comradery. You got us right in the feels. Every word is felt and appreciated immensely. It has been a pleasure being your neighbors for the short time that we were. Digging your heals into any community and offering something a little out of the norm is a very difficult task which we have been very proud to have done for our almost four year stint. So many friends and memories made. This industry is not for the impatient, lighthearted, money-hungry type. It's a struggle from the crack of dawn to the fall of dusk... and then come the infamous industry dreams (nightmares) that keep us tossing and turning. But we love this thing! We love the smiles and eye rolls the first bight of a sandwich or sip of a cocktail our recipes give to our guests, and its that exact moment that motivates us to continue pushing on. Although this chapter, for us, has come to an end, there are many characters in this book, and the upcoming pages in any book tend to bring new stories, new beginnings, and even sometimes some exciting sequels. When one door closes, another opens. We will see you soon, Otto's, and we look forward to watching you grow into this community. Stay the course, friends, until we meet again...
Home Plate Grill & The Dugout Lounge
Cheers!
To Our Valued Guests,
As of June 6th, 2025, unfortunately, the time will come for Home Plate Grill & The Dugout Lounge to close its doors indefinitely. This has been a journey we will not soon forget, and we will always reflect on the great times spent with Red Wing and surrounding communities. As you are all aware, times have been tough for the restaurant industry. Especially those that weren’t grounded firmly in place for many years prior to the great pandemic. We absolutely loved being a part of the community and look forward to the next chapter for the next business to take over one of the greatest spaces in one of the greatest buildings in downtown Red Wing. There are a few reasons that brought this decision about, but what it really all boils down to is that it’s simply time to round the bases and hang up the ole hat and glove, so to speak. The decision has been difficult, and we ask the public to remain respectful in all assumptions, thoughts, and ideas as to the reasons for this closure. Our staff has become family over the past 4 years, and we hope their transition to another field will be smooth and without shame in any way.
We thank you all for the years of patronage, friendship, and comradery, and we look forward to seeing everyone another time or two before the game night lights go out. Until then, our hours will be as follows:
Thursdays: 3:00pm – 9:00pm, kitchen close at 8:30
Fridays: 11:00am – 10:00pm, kitchen close at 9:30
Saturdays: 11am – 10:00pm, kitchen close at 9:30
Thanks again, sincerely,
Home Plate Grill & The Dugout Lounge Owner and Management
