Important Customer Update:

Reservations: We are fully booked and are no longer accepting new reservations.

Best Times to Dine: Our peak volume is between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. We highly recommend dining outside of these hours for a much smoother experience.

Walk-ins: Please expect a 30-to-60-minute wait time for a table.

Large Groups: We can no longer accommodate parties of 10 or more at a single table. Large groups must be split into two smaller tables.

Split Checks: Please limit split checks to a maximum of 2 per party. Processing multiple checks delays your order from reaching the kitchen and significantly slows down the checkout process.

Limited Menu: Due to high volume, we are experiencing frequent item shortages. Marinated Duck, Chinese Eggrolls, breaded Sweet and Sour Chicken, and all dumplings have been officially discontinued.

Because we have been selling out of many dishes near the end of shifts and toward the end of the week, we strongly advise calling ahead to check availability before making the trip. We have unfortunately had some disappointed guests walk out due to wait times and out-of-stock items, and we want to help you avoid that experience.

Finally, we ask our customers to be patient with our team, as we are operating with limited staffing during our final days of operation.

To Our Beloved Friends, Regulars, and Community,

​It is with heavy hearts—and immense gratitude—that we are announcing the upcoming closure of Lang Restaurant.
​After 40 years of serving this incredible community, our final day of service will be Sunday, August 30th.

​When our family first opened at our original location on 10th and Chestnut streets, with 10 tables back in 1985, we had a simple dream: to share our love of our family's and culture's food and create a warm and unique gathering place for everyone who walked through our doors. What we didn't fully realize back then was just how deeply you all would become a part of our family.

​Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing ​first dates that turned into anniversaries and growing families.
​Generations of regulars who grew up coming here every week. ​Laughter, celebrations, and quiet moments over thousands of shared meals. ​While closing this chapter is deeply bittersweet, we choose to look back on this journey with immense joy and gratitude. We know Huong and Lang are looking down at us with great pride as we come to the close of this era. We are endlessly thankful to our hard-working staff—past and present—who poured their hearts into making this place special every single day, and to you, our patrons, for making our dream possible for so long.

Hi friends! Thank you all so very much for your kind words, support and patience lately! The community outpour has been immense and it truly has meant so much to our family and we know Lang saw and felt it too. We are happy to let you all know that we'll be reopened for dinner starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 12th. Can't wait to see you all soon. 💜

With our deepest sorrow and heaviest hearts, we share with our beloved patrons that our father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, Lang Huynh, has passed away.

As many of you know, he was the chef‑owner of our family restaurant and the cornerstone of our family. Immigrating from Vietnam during the Vietnam War, he came to the United States with a dream to share his love of cooking with his community. In 1986, he opened the original Hong Thanh restaurant on 10th and Chestnut Streets in south Reading. For nearly 40 years, he worked tirelessly and wholeheartedly in the kitchen, sharing his culture, his heritage, and his genuine love of food and of feeding others. He continued doing what he loved until the absolute very end, even at 95 years old. If you knew him, you knew he had the biggest heart and the purest soul. We are completely heartbroken, and life will never be the same without him, but we hope to continue his legacy.

We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your kind words, well wishes, patience, and understanding during this incredibly difficult time. We hope to reopen very soon and look forward to seeing our treasured guests again.

If you would like to pay your respects, a public viewing will be held at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, on Sunday, March 8th, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
