Hi guys! We will be open tomorrow! As you know by now we have been closed for the past few days.
Anyone who has worked this industry seriously knows the toll it can take. 10+ hours, injury, sickness, loss, and mental exhaustion are rampant in our culture. When it comes to summer a lot of these issues are pushed to the back burner, leaving little room for family, personal time, or even financial assessment.
For 90 hard days it is balls to the wall with little guarantee of when your next day off will be. We work in continuous cycles between summer and winter knowing that we must be there and ready for our people when they ask but also knowing that we will break eventually. We constantly push this human limit in the name of challenging ourselves.
But as you get older you see the sun beginning to get lower on the horizon. As I mentioned losses take their toll and throw the present into stark contrast between what you have now and what will be gone tomorrow.
With all that in consideration we took the least consequential moment in the year to step back, enjoy our families, and give ourselves permission to live freely a little. We thank the town for understanding.
I see the calls and the texts and I appreciate the care you bring to our doors. We took the courage to look ourselves in the mirror and tell ourselves something’s off and be honest about what must be done. I debated on this post for a while but I’ve taken my time to come up with the right words. Thank you for your patience as we start to sum up the year.
