Before the Mystery Box contest starts, you say to yourself…

“Please… anything, anything, ANYTHING but fish.” 😂🐟

Then, one hour before turn-in, you open the box and find… RED SNAPPER.

I had never cooked red snapper before. Not once. 😳 It was only my 2nd time cooking fish IN MY LIFE!

But I knew Big D’s Q Grill Appeal and G2 BBQ had both won awards on seafood, so I trusted what I knew. I used them to balance a little citrus and light, bright flavor with savory—and added them to my butter sauce to bring it all together.

Then I cooked it, boxed it, turned it in…and waited.

FIRST PLACE! 🥇🐟🔥

A couple of years ago, Christy created this drink ancillary contest entry as a little tribute to one of her favorite Dolly Parton songs — “Islands in the Stream.” 💗

Today, it means a little more.

Christy is having a hard time with the loss of Dolly, and we know she’s not alone. Dolly gave us so much more than music. She gave us laughter, kindness, generosity, unforgettable songs and a whole lot of joy.

So today, we’re sharing this one again — not because we want to be sad, but because we want to remember the joy. ❤️

The music is still here. The memories are still here. And every time we sing along to a Dolly song, tell a Dolly story, or do a little something kind for somebody else, a piece of that joy keeps going.

Here’s to Islands in the Stream and to a woman who made the world a whole lot brighter. 🦋✨

The Rib Bowl 2026 cooks and visitors! Many of you stayed at the Crazy K Ranch during our contest a couple years ago. It has new owners and is now Lamb Ranch They have renovated the cabins and hotel rooms. Great place to stay close to the contest!
