Imhotep Academy: The Science of Forensics - Grades 6-8

This fall, Imhotep Academy students are stepping into the world of forensic science! Through hands-on exploration, scientific inquiry, and investigative challenges, students will discover how science can be used to examine evidence, uncover clues, and answer questions about what happened, how it happened, and why.

Along the way, students will explore the tools and techniques used across forensic science while strengthening their skills in observation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based reasoning. From analyzing the smallest details to piecing together the bigger picture, students will learn to think like scientists—and investigators.

Imhotep Academy Investigates: The Science of Forensics
When: Saturdays, October 3rd - October 31st; 9am - 1pm
Where: The Science House, NCSU Centennial East Campus
Earlybird Discounted Registration is Open!

The Duke Vertices program is currently accepting submissions for their annual High School Science Communication Challenge (HSSCC). They invite high school students to communicate a recent scientific research discovery in an engaging article of 650 words or less. Students must submit articles by March 15, 2026 at 11:59pm EST. Selected by a panel of undergraduate staff writers, winners will have the opportunity to publish their articles in the Duke online magazine this spring.

This would be a great opportunity for high school students interested in the intersections of research and science communication.
