πŸ«– Let's bust a few tea myths!

We've heard plenty of misconceptions about tea over the years, and some of them might be standing between you and a really good cup.

For example...

πŸƒ β€œGreen tea is always bitter.”

Not necessarily! Water that's too hot or steeping for too long can make a big difference. The right brewing technique can turn a bitter cup into something wonderfully smooth and flavorful.

⏱️ β€œThe longer I steep my tea, the better it gets.”

Not always. Longer steeping can bring out unwanted bitterness and astringency. Sometimes using a little more tea is a better way to get a stronger cup.

🌿 β€œAll herbal teas are caffeine-free.”

Most are, but not all! Yerba mate and guayusa naturally contain caffeine, so it's always worth checking the ingredients.

πŸ«– β€œI can only use my loose tea leaves once.”

Think again! Many oolongs, pu-erhs and other whole-leaf teas can be steeped multiple times, sometimes revealing different flavors with each infusion.

And one of our favorites...

β˜• β€œLoose-leaf tea is complicated.”

Absolutely not! Good tea, properly heated water, an infuser and a few minutes are all you need.

At Tin Roof Teas, we believe a little knowledge can make a big difference in your cup. And helping customers discover and enjoy great tea is one of our favorite parts of what we do.

Have a tea question you've always wanted to ask?

Leave it in the comments or stop by the shop. We'd love to help!

Because there's always something new to discover in the world of tea. πŸ«–

πŸ‚ Tea deserves a seat at the dinner table.

We usually think about tea in the morning, during an afternoon break or curled up on the couch after dinner.

But tea can pair beautifully WITH food, too.

Just like w**e, different teas bring body, aroma, tannins, sweetness and layers of flavor that can complement what's on your plate.

And fall gives us some especially delicious combinations:

πŸ— Roast chicken + Darjeeling β€” balanced and flavorful without overpowering the meal.

πŸ₯” Mashed potatoes + China Yunnan Golden Downy Pekoe β€” a robust tea to stand up to buttery, creamy sides.

πŸ„ Mushrooms + Oolong β€” earthy, complex and made for fall.

🍎 Apple desserts + Fireball β€” because apple and cinnamon rarely need an introduction.

πŸŽƒ Pumpkin pie + Rooibos Vanilla β€” smooth, creamy and caffeine-free for the perfect after-dinner pairing.

You don't need to know all the β€œrules” of tea pairing, either.

Start with lighter teas for lighter foods, fuller-bodied teas for richer meals and naturally sweet or flavored teas with dessert.

Then forget the rules whenever you find a combination you love. πŸ˜‰

This fall, put the kettle on before dinner.

Stop by Tin Roof Teas or shop online and find a tea for your table.

Which pairing sounds best to you? πŸ‚πŸ«–

πŸ‚ It's officially fallβ€”and the calendar has finally caught up with our teacups.

We've spent the last few weeks easing into the season. We've poured our fall teas over ice, celebrated apple season and brought tea to the tailgate.

Now?

Bring out the mugs. β˜•οΈ

There's more than one way for fall to taste:

πŸŽƒ Pumpkin β€” PUMPKIN jack for a bold, caffeinated cup or Pumpkin Cream Rooibos when you want your pumpkin caffeine-free.

🍎 C***r β€” Apple C***r for a fruity fall classic or Hot C***r Honeybush for something warm and cozy.

β˜• Chai & spice β€” Apple Spiced Chai brings together two of our favorite flavors of the season.

🀎 Something different β€” Japanese Wh***ey or Pistachio White Chocolate Rooibos when you want to venture beyond the traditional pumpkin-and-apple lineup.

Maybe the perfect fall tea shelf isn't just one tea.

Maybe it's a bold morning cup, something cozy for the afternoon, a caffeine-free tea for after dinnerβ€”and one completely new tea just because.

The kettle is on. The mugs are out. And there's an entire season of really good tea ahead of us.

Happy Fall from Tin Roof Teas. πŸ‚β˜•οΈ

πŸ‚ What's your fall tea ritual?

There's something about this time of year that makes tea feel less like a drink and more like a little marker throughout the day.

β˜€οΈ The first cup β€” A bold black tea or warming chai before the day gets going.

πŸ‚ The 3:00 reset β€” A green tea, oolong or lighter black tea and ten minutes away from whatever has occupied your day.

πŸŒ™ The cozy cup β€” A caffeine-free rooibos, herbal or fruit tea after dinner. Pumpkin Cream Rooibos has our vote right now. πŸŽƒ

πŸ«– The slow weekend steep β€” A full pot, a tea you haven't tried before and enough time to actually enjoy it while it's still hot.

Your ritual doesn't have to be elaborate.

Sometimes it's simply boiling the water, letting the leaves steep and giving yourself a few quiet minutes.

The tea matters. But so does the pause.

Fall officially arrives Tuesday, September 22. Here's to cooler mornings, earlier evenings, warmer mugsβ€”and a whole season of really good tea ahead. πŸ‚β˜•

What's the cup you look forward to most each day?

Stop by Tin Roof Teas or shop online and find a tea for your favorite part of the day.

✨ Staff Favorites: Meet Keith! ✨

Every tea has a storyβ€”and so do the people who love it.

This week, we’re featuring Keith, whose pick is a little different from your everyday cup: Jinggu β€œCha Gao” Raw Pu-erh. 🍡

Cha gao is a concentrated pu-erh tea resin, and this raw version from Jinggu brews into a beautifully smooth cup with sweet, floral notes and little to no bitterness. It’s a fascinating tea with an equally fascinating preparationβ€”and a perfect Staff Favorite for one of our resident tea enthusiasts.

Swipe through to see Keith prepare it, and take a closer look at just how small that little piece of cha gao is before it becomes a full pot of tea.

Have you ever tried cha gaoβ€”or any type of pu-erh tea? Tell us below! πŸ‘‡

Stay tuned for more Staff Favorites and the teas the Tin Roof Teas team reaches for again and again. πŸ’š

🍎 Apple season is hereβ€”and we're celebrating one cup at a time.

Pumpkin may get most of the attention this time of year, but we're giving apple its moment. πŸ‚

From crisp and fruity to warm, spicy and dessert-like, there's more than one way to taste fall at Tin Roof Teas:

🍎 Apple C***r β€” a caffeine-free classic that's delicious hot or iced.

🍎 Apple Spiced Chai β€” sweet apple meets cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and clove. Add milk for an Apple Chai Latte.

🍎 Apple Walnut Cream Cake β€” caffeine-free and dessert-inspired, with all the cozy feelings of apple cake in your cup.

🍎 Gwendalina's Baked Apple β€” a black and green tea blend with apple and cinnamon that gives us serious baked-apple-pie vibes.

And this time of year, there's no need to choose between hot and iced. Brew your apple teas over ice for those warm September afternoons, then pull out your favorite mug when the cooler mornings finally arrive. β˜•οΈ

🏈 Tea goes tailgating!

Football season is officially underway, which means coolers are being packed, tents are going up and Saturdays are starting to revolve around kickoff times.

Our contribution to the game-day spread?

A really good pitcher of iced tea. πŸ§ŠπŸ«–

Brew your favorite loose-leaf tea by the batch, chill it ahead of time and pack it in the cooler. Fruity teas are refreshing for these still-warm September weekends, Apple C***r brings a little fall flavor to game day, and almost any favorite iced tea can become an easy mocktail with fresh fruit, citrus and a splash of sparkling water.

And when those cool fall mornings finally arrive? That's when we trade the cooler for a thermos filled with warm Apple Spiced Chai. πŸŽβ˜•

Iced now. Cozy later. Tea all football season long.

Stop by Tin Roof Teas and let us help you pick your game-day brew, or shop online and get that tailgate pitcher ready.

πŸ‚ Welcome to the in-between season.

You know the one.

You're ready for crisp mornings, changing leaves and all things apple, pumpkin and chai...

But the afternoon temperature still says SUMMER. β˜€οΈ

Here's the good news: your tea doesn't have to choose.

Try Apple Walnut Cream Cake chilled for a sweet, caffeine-free afternoon glass. Brew Apple Spiced Chai strong and pour it over iceβ€”a splash of milk makes an easy iced chai latte! Give Pumpkin Cream Rooibos the iced treatment when you're craving pumpkin without a steaming mug. Or try PUMPKIN jack over ice for a bold, spiced black tea with all the fall feels.

Then, when those first genuinely cool mornings arrive?

Pull out the mugs and brew the very same teas hot. β˜•οΈ

β˜€οΈ Iced today.
πŸ‚ Cozy tomorrow.

Fall is already brewing at Tin Roof Teasβ€”even if the weather hasn't gotten the memo yet.

Shop our seasonal collection online or stop by the store to find your first sip of fall.

One plant. So many possibilities. πŸŒΏπŸ«–

Black, oolong, green, and white tea may look β€” and taste β€” completely different in your cup, but they all begin with the same plant: Camellia sinensis.

The magic happens after the leaves are picked. How they’re processed and oxidized, along with where and how they’re grown, can transform those leaves into everything from a bold, malty black tea to a delicate white tea or a fresh, vibrant green.

β˜• BLACK TEA β€” Fully oxidized, with deeper, richer flavors that can range from malty and brisk to fruity, smoky, or sweet.
Try: English Five O’Clock, English Westminster, Apricot, or Earl Grey Robusta

πŸ‚ OOLONG TEA β€” Partially oxidized and wonderfully diverse, falling somewhere between green and black tea. Oolongs can be light and floral, creamy and smooth, or dark, roasted, and complex.
Try: Traditional Ti Kuan Yin, China Milky Oolong, Ginseng Oolong, or Dark Pearl Oolong

🌿 GREEN TEA β€” Heated soon after harvest to limit oxidation, preserving its fresh character. Depending on the tea, expect notes ranging from grassy and vegetal to sweet, nutty, or floral.
Try: Gyokuro Kin, Bancha Suruga, China Gunpowder, or Blueberry Sunrise
Oolong

🀍 WHITE TEA β€” The least processed of the four, typically made with young leaves and buds and handled gently to preserve its delicate character.
Try: White Monkey Picked, Yin Zhen Silver Needles, Snow Dragon, or Blueberry White

Swipe through ➑️ to see how dramatically one little tea plant can change from leaf to cup.

And then tell us: Which tea family are you reaching for first β€” Black, Oolong, Green, or White? πŸ‘‡
