Drew Hennen is our next MN Special Hockey spotlight player competing in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games! Drew is a member of the MN Special Hockey - Burnsville team.

Drew is on Team MN's Soccer team. Here are Drew's thoughts about being part of Team MN and playing soccer in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games:

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗨𝗦𝗔 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗮?
I’m super proud to represent Minnesota, and especially to be the first Soccer Team Minnesota has ever sent to the USA games.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀?
Soccer is my favorite sport, so it has been fun to get to play it so much more than our regular (shorter) season! I really like getting to learn how to play all the positions even better!

A couple weeks ago our family celebrated 40 years with the Carbone’s Family. So proud to be apart of this legacy! Congratulations to Dan and Jess for keeping the dream alive. We love you!

This milestone is extra special for us. Rich and his parents started the family legacy of Carbone’s in 1986. Jimmy definitely put his time in at Cedar Avenue over the years. Rich met Jenn working at the store in 1996. We are so blessed to be involved in the franchise over the decades. So proud of Dan and Jess for what they have carried on there. It’s a very special place!!

2026 has been a year of reflection for me. I met Dan in 1994 and was introduced to the Carbone’s world at just 19 years old. This year I turned 50 in April—finally ok saying that, ha!—and this Saturday, May 30th, we celebrate 40 years of Carbone’s in this little slice of South MPLS we love so much.🍕❤️

Being part of this neighborhood for 40 years as a family-owned, second-generation restaurant is something we never take for granted. We’ve watched kids grow up here, celebrated milestones, mourned losses, and built relationships with customers and staff who became family. We truly survived the pandemic because this community wrapped its arms around us in ways we’ll never forget. 🤍

We always joke that we should’ve written a book—usually sitting at table 10 (you know the big round table by the front door) after a busy night, sharing drinks and laughing together. Front of house, back of house…we’re family here.

And there’s no one we’d rather celebrate with than Fulton Brewery 🍻 They’ll be pouring $5 pints from the Fulton Beer Trailer all day, plus there may be some Fulton + Carbone’s swag involved.👀
