Small businesses, VFWs, American Legions, social clubs, taverns, restaurants, and convenience stores across Pennsylvania are facing a major challenge with the recent ruling on skill games.
Regardless of where you stand on the issue, many people don't realize that the revenue generated by these machines helps support local businesses, employees, veterans organizations, community events, and charitable donations.
The question shouldn't be whether these machines exist, it should be whether Pennsylvania can create a FAIR system of regulation, licensing and taxation that allows local businesses to continue benefiting while the state gets it pound of flesh.
The machines have come a long way. They print a report that details the payout due to the machine manufacturer (they get a cut now), the vendor and the establishment. The state can easily be added to the payout module. For the record, the vendor and establishment are currently paying tax on that income.
Eliminating skill games entirely will have major consequences for many already operating on thin margins.
While you may not approve of gambling, can you support your local economy, local jobs and your local community?
If you believe "regulation is better than elimination" now is the time to contact your state representatives and senators and let your voices be heard. Let them know how this decision will affect local businesses and your community.
If you live in Pennsylvania, please contact your Pennsylvania State Representative and State Senator to share your views.

Our lawmakers have 120 days from today to change the law in our state legislation and add regulations.
Even if you don’t think this affects you because you don't gamble (I'm not a gambler myself), it will affect prices and chartible giving, if that revenue is blocked.
The casinos will have the monopoly while the little guy get nothing. Banning is not the answer. Prohibition didn't work. Let's not make that mistake again.
