BENNY'S FINAL YELP RESPONSE!

Bad News/Good News. Owner Benny has sold to the owners of the Irish Inn at Glen Echo. Last day is Oct. 25 and it will reopen after renovations as "LAHINCH Serving Great Irish/America Cuisine."
We will miss his generally angry Yelp responses regarding food & service, but look forward to the Irish food and professional management. Looking forward to Shephards Pie & Bangers & Mash with a real Pint.

Added: Per his response, clearly, Benny needs to take a well deserved break. Best wishes to him and the staff.

10/25/2015 Benny"s Final Yelp Review
Comment from Benny, owner of Benny's Restaurant Bar

My responses are not angry, just the brutally truthful. We have had a lot more great responses than poor ones. There happens to be a lot of VERY fake and transparent reviews from competitors, terminated employees and crackpots.

We have received reviews from raving idiots Yelpers with nothing better to do in there little meaningless lives, other than to try to act like a big shot while sitting in the dark basement of their parents' house, only because they could NEVER look anyone in the face and get away with what they say one line. These people having no better way to vent their life time of frustration until they discovered Yelp. Even Yelp recognizes that over 25% of Yelp reviews are fake.

No restaurant can make 100% of their customers happy, none. I found that in MOST unhappy Yelpers cases, if the Yelper would have simply told someone in the restaurant about the problem at the time, rather than say nothing, 98% of the issues could have and would have been corrected on the spot. However, a lot of Yelpers would rather say nothing, be unhappy, run home to bloviate over the Internet, only because, they don't have the brains or the sense to open their mouth at the time to get the problem corrected.

Clearly, I have NO respect whatsoever for these types of Yelpers and I think I made it very clear countless of times by my straight forward and blunt responses. Most of my responses were pretty funny to read as well. I will say that I very much enjoyed responding to the absurd and moronic Yelpers because anyone with 1/2 a brain would never have believed what the Yelper stated said in the first place. On the flip side, some Yelpers provided me with information that I helped me make changes by some of their constructive suggestions and I thank those Yelpers for their reviews.

So Bonnie W, would suggest that should I respond to the Yelper with the same nonsense most restaurant owners post........"Gee whiz Mr.Yelper, I'm so very very sorry...and I mean very very very sorry that you did not enjoy your experience at my restaurant tonight. Please, please please and pretty please, with a big fat cherry on top, give us another chance....come back and try us again, we will bend over and let you drive a truck up my re**um if you give us another chance, please, please oh, pretty please, we are so, so very sorry."

Come on Bonnie W, these unknown, unqualified nobodies are getting away with unloading a pile of crap on a restaurant owner who has made a real investment of time and money and you want the restaurant owner to live with some loser's uneducated opinion and then say nothing? Really?

In short, don't believe anything you read on Yelp....have the nuts to make your own determination of what is good and what is not. Do not believe some unknown moron Yelper who thinks he/she is the Washington Post's food critic, who actually does know what he is talking about and also signs his full name and contact info to every review he writes. Not someone that may be incarcerated at St. Elizabeth's Mental Ward with access to a computer. For all you know, is a total whack job with his own agenda or someone that could be completely out of his mind.

So Bonnie W, are you saying it is OK to allow some unknown nobody to tell you what to think, and where to eat?? Really Bonnie W?? Are you a cow, following the cow in front of you because the cow in front of you has a bell around his neck, or do you have a working brain of your own??
Hate me if you want, but that is the real deal! So there ya have it!.
