Mann-Grandstaff VAMC’s Social Work team is looking for interested homeowners or renters who would consider having a US Military Veteran as a paying tenant through VA’s new “Medical Foster Home” program. Jamie Pillers, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) at Mann-Grandstaff is already working to find interested participants now – concentrating on North Idaho with hopes to expand the efforts into WA next year.
Medical Foster Home caregivers provide the Veteran personalized, safe, and comfortable room and board, help with carrying out activities of daily living like showering, getting dressed, transportation, home-cooked meals, laundry, and best of all – friendship! The hosts are paid by the Veteran each month, and VA in turn, provides regular site-visits and any medical care the Veteran may need. The host must be 21 years of age, live at the primary residence of the Medical Foster Home, and have informal or formal caregiving experience to assist the Veteran as seen in this special CBS news report: https://www.cbsnews.com/.../senior-veterans-medical....
