Clan Donnachaidh Pacific Northwest Branch was founded over 55 years ago to allow Reids, Reeds, Robertsons, Duncans, McConnachie, Donnachie and others to communicate.

Enjoyed an outstanding weekend at the Yamhill Oregon County Fairgrounds for the McMinnville Scottish Festival and Highland Games! Ideal weather, record-breaking athletics, delightful musicians, a very patient llama, and a chance to march with Clans carrying my new battleax/clan flag rig. Signed up a bunch of new members for the Clan Donnachaidh Society. Thanks to all (especially wife Linda) who helped make it such a fine event!

A big shout-out to Tim Duncan who is representing Clan Donnachaidh at the upcoming Kelso Highlander Festival! Be sure to stop by his Clan booth and show your support. ALSO, look for Clan Donnachaidh at the McMinnville Scottish Festival and Highland Games the first week of October. We'll be there, with all our Scottish gear and highland regalia, including beautiful Clan D tee-shirts to all who join the Clan Donnachaidh Society, or renew their annual membership. Splendid gathering here at the Douglas County Highland Games in the Melrose Vinyards outside of Roseburg, Oregon. We have near perfect weather, and stunning athletic displays.

An especially popular feature here at the Clan Donnachaidh tent has been the indexed guide to clan locations on the popular "Scotland of Old" clan map (most Clan booths have one on display.) By overlaying a clear plastic sheet with a grid drawn on it (each 2" × 2" square marked A thru E across and 1 thru 8 down) then writing down all the Clans that appear in each square, then turning the whole thing over to my computer-savvy wife, Linda, who created a spread sheet with all the clans listed alphabetically, with their grid numbers noted, we now have a valuable guide for finding where in Scotland any Clan is to be found. Cool, yes?

Clan Donnachaidh Pacific Northwest Branch has received word from a kinswoman in California of the upcoming 100th birthday of her mother-in-law.

Ellen Robertson Brophy will begin her 101st trip around the sun on June 23rd!

She is extremely proud of her Clan Donnachaidh heritage and boasts of it often, sporting her Clan D tartan at every opportunity.

Her family hopes as many Donnachaidh kinfolk as possible can send Ellen special greetings on her special day. Email messages can go to:

The Portland Highland Games and Scottish Festival is off to a fine start at its new home at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro, Oregon. The occasional rain and wind did not discourage the large, enthusiastic crowds. A fun new feature was an impressive array of Old World motorbikes (mostly Triumphs). A special thanks to kinsman Graeme Reid, who drove up from Bend to help man our Clan Donnachaidh tent. We signed up 8 new Clan D members!

An excellent day at the Eugene Scottish Festival and Highland Games. Special thanks to long-time Clan Donnachaidh member Nyla Jebousek who stood up for Clan D at our booth. Thanks also to our kinfolk at Clan MacPherson, who helped me with setting up Friday. My doctors advised against any heavy lifting as I was coming off cataract surgery the day before and Peggy Brewster and her folk provided much-needed assistance. Now it's on to the Portland Festival and Games for June 6th!
