Hola! We’re La Casa de Mamá 👋🏼
A small, family-owned vegan Mexican panadería born right here in Portland, Oregon. We started in September 2021 and have spent the last few years showing up at pop-ups, farmers markets, and community events, getting to know our city in a different light and letting this city get to know us. 🌸
When we say family-owned… we mean it. It’s literally just the three of us!
👩🏽🍳 Mamá Miriam: The magic behind everything. She’s the one who created every single recipe, brought 20+ years of culinary experience in Portland kitchens, and has poured her heart into this bakery from day one.
👩🏻💻 Alexa: Usually behind the scenes managing the emails, the admin, and everything that keeps us running.
🕺🏻César: If you’ve been to any of our markets or events, you’ve met him. He’s the face at the booth, the one who will always make sure you leave with something delicious and a smile.
🇲🇽 Our family is originally from Veracruz, Mexico and food has always been at the center of everything.
A few years ago, our mom went through a serious health diagnosis. She recovered and is doing amazing, but it shifted the way we thought about food as medicine. We started eating more plant-based, but giving up the flavors we grew up with was never an option. Mexican food isn’t just what we ate it’s how we’ve always connected with our culture, our family, and home. ❤️
So Mamá did what she does best took it as a challenge and set out to recreate every flavor, every texture, every memory. Entirely plant-based. She started with conchas and champurrado, and the rest is history. 👩🏻🍳
We never imagined La Casa de Mamá would grow into what it is today and watching our Mamá thrive in this space has been the greatest gift.
