TONIGHT DAME SETS HIS FEET BACK ON THE COURT at 1 NORTH CENTER COURT. It feels unreal. And though I don't know the first thing about what it takes to come back an injury as serious as he endured and shoot a ridiculous ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND THREE POINTERS IN ONE SUMMER... but I will lay claim to the one possible factor I contributed to sway the cosmic forces of nature... when I brought back 4 BAR FRIDAYS WHEN DAME WAS STILL ON THE BUCKS AND RECORDED EVERY WEEK UNTIL SOMEHOW HE RETURNED!!!! HERE ARE MY RECEIPTS. ANYWAYS ANYHOW GO BLAZERS!!!!!!!

TODAY I WAS ENLIGHTENED. During my recent stretch of working, I noticed, like the old days, regular COSMIC MONKEY customers would come on set days. And I finally asked a couple of guys today, do you have a set day you get comics and have teriyaki? And one of the guys told me matter-of-factly, "Yeah, Wednesdays. Comic release day". And I literally went 😮😮😮. OF COURSE. Why didn't I think of that?? I was instantly transported to the early 2000's when I did the EXACT SAME THING for ALBUM RELEASE DAY (lining up at MIDNIGHT on Tuesday at my spot TOWER RECORDS ON SUNSET) or to buy MOVIE TICKETS (ARCLIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD) and going even further back when my dad (RIP) would line up outside MEMORIAL COLISEUM for playoff tickets 🥲🥲🥲🥲 I love when I can make a connection with customers that don't even have to exclusively do with teriyaki 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

I ended last post by re-declaring my undying love for the BLAZERS. But before the curtain lifts on the season marking the 50 ANNIVERSARY of our one and only title, I feel compelled to share THREE TIMES I WAS UNLOYAL TO THE BLAZERS and hopefully exorcise our demons and clear the path for another TITLE RUN YEAH I SAID IT: 1) in 1989, I was filling out a "get to know you" survey at church youth group. I came to the question which asked about your favorite sports team. This was the era where Jordan was really starting to build popularity. Not even a champion yet. But clearly cool. I caved under peer pressure. I said my favorite team was the "Bulls" 😫😫😫 2) 2000 WCF. You and I both know it well. But I do. Or know it in real@time because I didn't watch it live. I had to attend a family member's graduation. So I do not regret it. My obligation to my family. But... I cannot help but always wonder if I may have altered the cosmic fabric of the game which made the Blazers miss 12 straight field goals and relegate us to the living hell that is watching that damn Kobe to Shaq alley oop on every playoff highlight real between now and the end of humanity... 3) Bubble playoffs. Round 1. Dame was on fire on the bubble. Not human. And we once again face the Lakers in the playoffs. And we improbably take Game 1 in LA. It was akin to that feeling when we stole Game 2 vs the Bulls in 92 to steal home court. A surge of hope. Only for the flames to be extinguished with every soul crushing loss that followed. I actually said I was done with NBA after that. I could not stomach another Lakers related nightmare haunting me. So I really did stop. I didn't watch any not games. I stopped talking basketball. For... a few months. Just long enough for the remainder of the playoffs and the offseason to pass. I was right back at it the following season. But in my heart and soul, I really did think I was done. My will was resolved. But just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in. Yes I also love Godfather 3. And here we are. I will never let the Blazers go again. Now my determination is in part fueled by having young sons I want to inspire and embed the idea of loyalty into.

THREE NON-BASKETBALL REASONS THE BLAZERS ARE A FRANCHISE AFTER MY OWN HEART: 1) These days it's becoming more common but I'm pretty sure Moda Center/Rose Garden was one of the first arenas which really pushed to feature LOCAL BUSINESSES and it is comforting to see Pizzicato and Killer Burger (Sandy Blvd represent) in the concourse... 2) as a rabid hip hop fan, I can tell DJ OG ONE is a true ambassador of the culture when, instead of your garden variety top 40 songs for in game music, he digs into the crates and plays deep album hip hop cuts like Mos Def "Mathematics" and Beanie Sigel "The Truth" and it is literally MUSIC TO MY YEARS... 3) The Portland Trailblazers are now not only the first and only team to sign a KOREAN PLAYER to their roster but with the arrival of HYUNJUNG LEE... now they have signed the SECOND!!! And while most fans may simply hope he outplays his Exhibit 10 contract and makes the rotation... the five year old in me CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE LIVED TO WITNESS KOREAN PLAYERS IN THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION... I SALUTE YOU BLAZERS 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡 I WILL LOVE YOU FOR LIFE WORD TO DEVANTE SWING

Would you not concur that FALL is the most DIVA-LIKE of all the seasons??? First of all, it's the only season with TWO NAMES (what are you, a rapper from the 90's??), it has a dessert they exclusively sell only during its time (sometimes I want PECAN PIE IN JULY SUE ME) and without warning, it can surely unleash upon you any type of weather on a whim (SUUUUUN RAIN RAIN RAIN SUN HAIIIIL????) sheesh. If you want alt thing more laid back and dependable in your life COME EAT DU'S GRILL WHERE IT ALMOST ALWAYS STAYS THE SAME AND WE DO NOT USE PUMPKIN SPICE ON ANYTHING
