T Room has a new look!! This has been a long time in the making. All photos were taken at Twilight Room dating back to the 1950’s - some before it was even called Twilight Room! This change comes as we celebrate our 65th anniversary of being owned by the Penner family.
It may come as a surprise to some, but Twilight Room was a tiki bar back in the 1950’s. Doug Penner started bartending here in 1958 while attending University of Portland. It was here that he met his wife Janet, and together they would go on to have 4 children - all of whom have worked at the Twilight Room.
Doug and Janet purchased the Twilight Room in 1961 and 2 months later their first son, Chris Penner, was born. Chris started working at the Twilight Room at 13, and has more or less been here ever since.
Twilight Room has a long and colorful history, and we are so honored to be adding to that history every day. Our community is everything, and none of this would have been possible without our family, friends & neighbors. Thank you to all our supporters, and cheers to 65 years of business in North Portland!
