💯 TWO PERFECT SCORES! 💯

The adventure is off to an outstanding start! Yesterday, the G-P Early Childhood Center and Gregory-Portland Middle School Wildcat Café teams each earned a perfect 100 on their health inspections!

These scores reflect the care, teamwork and commitment to food safety that these teams bring to their kitchens every day. Congratulations to both teams on this incredible accomplishment—way to set the standard for the adventure ahead! 🧭❤️💙

🍦 SCHOOL NUTRITION: LOOK BEYOND THE LABEL

Ice cream at school? Yep! And once again, there’s more to the story than you might think.

As ice cream service begins later this week, here’s another look at the nutritional FACTS behind the products available to students.

The ice cream products offered through Wildcat Café are specifically selected for the school environment. Compared with the grocery store example shown here, school ice cream averages:

🍦 Less than half the calories
🍦 Significantly less total and saturated fat
🍦 Less sodium
🍦 Less total and added sugar

And yes—it’s still ice cream! 😊

Providing good nutrition doesn’t mean students can never enjoy a treat. It means making thoughtful choices about the products offered and giving families the facts behind those choices.

At Wildcat Café, families deserve to know the nutritional facts behind what’s on the tray. 🐾💙❤️

Con el servicio de helado comenzando a finales de esta semana, aquí presentamos otra mirada a los DATOS nutricionales de los productos disponibles para los estudiantes.

Los productos de helado que se ofrecen a través de Wildcat Café son seleccionados específicamente para el entorno escolar. En comparación con el ejemplo del supermercado que se muestra aquí, el helado escolar contiene, en promedio:

Students will be able to purchase one of four frozen favorites for $2 each:

🍎 SCHOOL MEALS: THERE’S MORE TO THE STORY

A cinnamon roll is a cinnamon roll… right? Not exactly!

Foods made specifically for school meal programs are often formulated differently from similar items found at the grocery store. The cinnamon roll recently served at G-PISD elementary schools is a great example.

Compared with the grocery store cinnamon roll shown here, the school cinnamon roll has:
🍥 Fewer calories
🍥 Less total and saturated fat
🍥 Significantly less sodium
🍥 More fiber
🍥 Less total and added sugar
🍥 Whole wheat flour as the first ingredient

School meals must meet federal nutrition standards while also providing foods students will enjoy. That means familiar favorites can still have a place on the menu—with nutrition standards built into the recipe.

The first week of school is officially in the books, and the Gregory-Portland Middle School Wildcat Café team has one thing to say:

“We survived our first week back. Yay!!” 😄🙌

From early mornings to busy serving lines, this crew has been hard at work helping keep G-PISD students fueled and ready for each day.

The first stop on this year’s adventure is complete, with many more meals, memories, and milestones still ahead. Adventure Awaits! 🌎✈️❤️💙

🎂 A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MICHELE! 🎉

The celebration may have happened earlier this week, but birthday wishes are still in order for Michele at S.F. Austin Elementary School ! 🥳

The S.F. Austin Elementary Wildcat Café team celebrated Michele with plenty of smiles, sweet treats, and a special visit from the amazing Mrs. Kovarek — better known as Ms. K! 💗

This birthday post is arriving one day late, but the wishes are just as heartfelt.

Happy Birthday, Michele! 🎈🎂 May the year ahead be a wonderful adventure!
