After nearly 10 incredible years at this location, and an attempted retirement a couple years back, it’s time for me to share some exciting, yet bittersweet, news—I have sold The Bistro!
When I first opened our doors, I never could have imagined the friendships, support, and sense of community that would grow from this little hole in the wall. What started as just a business became so much more—it became my second home and my sense of identity.
Many of you have watched my son, affectionately known as our “Summer Intern,” grow up right before your eyes. From helping around the shop as a kid to becoming a young man, The Bistro has been a huge part of our family’s story, and I am so grateful that you have been part of that journey.
Over the years, The Bistro has grown far beyond anything I ever imagined. For such a small café, we have been blessed to win multiple local awards, build an incredible customer following, and become busier than ever. While many people see that we’re only open four days a week, the reality is that owning a small business is a full-time commitment and then some. The remaining days are spent ordering, planning, bookkeeping, payroll, taxes, marketing, paperwork, maintenance, and all the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that keep the doors open and the business moving forward.
As I approach this next chapter of life, I find myself wanting to explore some personal passions and opportunities that I haven’t had the time to pursue. I would love to travel more (maybe even Japan with the hubs), enjoy a little more flexibility, and maybe even write that cookbook featuring some of the soups, pastas, and customer favorites that so many of you have enjoyed over the years.
Because The Bistro is thriving, busy, and stronger than ever, I feel incredibly fortunate to be making this transition while we’re on top. There is something very rewarding about being able to pass the torch at a time when the future is so bright.
That future is in great hands. Please join me in welcoming the new owner, Schuyler, and his beautiful family…Andrea and Nolan! Schuyler brings something special to the table—a youthful energy, creativity, experience, fresh ideas, and an enthusiasm that will help The Bistro continue to grow and evolve while maintaining the welcoming atmosphere you’ve come to know and love.
The good news is that many familiar faces will still be here! Miss Alicia and Miss Tracy (and our Summer Intern—until he goes off to college) will continue serving the customers they have come to know and love, and Schuyler is also bringing in additional team members to help support our continued growth and accommodate how busy The Bistro has become.
I cannot adequately express my gratitude to every customer, employee (past and present), vendor, and supporter who has been part of this journey. Your loyalty, encouragement, friendships, and support have meant more to me than words can say. You allowed a dream to become a reality, and for that I will always be thankful.
As this chapter closes for me, I hope you will continue supporting The Bistro and its new ownership just as generously as you have supported me. I know Schuyler and his family will appreciate your kindness, and I am confident they will carry on the spirit of community that has made The Bistro such a special place.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for an amazing 10 years. It has truly been one of the greatest privileges and accomplishments of my life.
