Here we are, airing it all out! An old photo of the part of our building that no one’s really ever seen. It looks totally different now since we started construction 3 weeks ago. This is the back portion of our building, nearly 600sqft of future coffee house seating and more! (The “more” is still top secret, but almost time to reveal).

I don’t want to show any progress photos because I want you all to walk in and be wow’d! So now I’m trying to get creative in what we do show. Please enjoy the suspense, it’ll be worth the build up. We promise!

Remember the big crate?! Well, that item is going in this room! That’s it, that’s all I’m saying 🤐

Hi, my name is Ryan Helg and my wife is Tiffini Helg and we love coffee. We love it so much, we have decided to create a space inside of our already established photo/art gallery in downtown Ponchatoula to serve you coffee. They say, invest in something you love, and you’ll succeed.

But let us tell y’all the Gods honest truth. Tiffini and myself have had a vision of a creative community space for years. A place to gather, create, share, testify, grow, make friends, form relationships and bonds, and to love. We share a vision of a place that anyone can come in and enjoy themselves. We don’t want to down play the coffee, because we are going all out with only the best equipment and the best beans in the south (Luma Coffee Roasters); But we have high hopes that EVERYONE will feel welcome and find something they love. Whether it be a coffee, a tea, a delicious pastry, or a piece of authentic original Louisiana Art piece from the gallery, we will have a little something for everyone. So don’t be shy! Y’all come on over to our little space that we want to share with YOU.

Our slogan:
Come as you are, always be you. Leave your mask at the door.

Our faith is Rouxted and we are guided by his word:
“ Now if the firstfruits are holy, so is the whole batch. And if the “ROUXT” is holy, so are the branches.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭16‬ ‭

*Projected mid to late December opening.

Alright yall. We are now in deep to the construction on phase 1 and 2. This morning we had a very productive meeting with Primetime Construction and Devin from Luma to start laying out our coffee bar flow and build out which will be phase 3.

I am TERRIBLE at holding back surprises, but I’m going to do my best. I took some good before photos a few weeks ago before we dug in to demolition. So for now, you’ll have to wonder 💭

Here’s a hint, this spot will belong to the coffee bar! That’s all I can say 🤭🤣 (it’s SO MUCH MORE though!!! 🫣🤭😫)

Now that we are coffee beans deep into construction, if all goes as planned, we are hoping construction to be done sometime in December. However, this is not our first rodeo so we will need to allot some time for health and fire code inspections to pass.

So there ya go, our first bid on opening date, HOPEFULLY in time to serve hot chocolate for Christmas time. 🎅🏼 ☕️

Let us answer some FAQ’s!

-What is your opening date?

We purchased our building over 4 years ago and always had plans to open a coffeehouse/storefront. Our historical building needs a little TLC. We are starting with repairs and upgrades. A courtyard revamp starts with digging up ancient tree roots/busted drain pipes and revamping that subsurface drainage. Our building roof has a couple leaks. Remedy for patch work, electrical, etc. After we make her like new again, then comes the pretty aesthetics. We are revamping our entire facility, and it’s going to be a VIBE! We can’t wait for you to see it, but also, we will not open a day before it’s completely finished. We want the first impression of the product and the space to be something you love from day one. Once we dig into this construction, we will have a better idea of opening date. Short answer, I hope to be serving nice warm beverages for Ponchatoula’s Christmas lighting.

-Is Stinky Mud Photography closing or moving?

Absolutely not and no. My services have become majority real estate photography. The space will be a shared space. I will have a live action “hut” inside this place that will be a work of art in itself. A place for me to work from, edit, and create art! Rouxt Coffeehouse is created to enhance the art store. The shared space will also include the work of other Louisiana creators. You’ll have to just wait and see what that looks like. I hope this venture encourages me to get back out in the swamps more to hang more wall art of our beautiful swamp life.

-Can we sell our food from your coffeehouse?

Vendors, we hear you! We are overwhelmed with the love. Many people want to be a part of this venture and that is exactly what we want. A community shared space. Please allow us some time to get into the build and we will be interviewing for a business to supply us with some pastries and the likes. There is a plan in place! ☺️

Ponchatoula, we love you and we hear you! Thank you so much for this warm welcome. The support we have received already is promising.
