The Alibi Tavern The Alibi Tavern is Pomeroy's only bar. Featuring cold beer, outstanding food, and free pool. On top of that, the food we serve is second to none.

The Alibi Tavern seeks to leave a lasting impression on our customers. We feature a wide selection of cold ass beer, spirits, and some wine. Smoked tri-tip sandwiches, brisket, pulled pork, house made fries and chips, all cooked to perfection. Born and raised on word of mouth, customer relations are incredibly important to us. At the Alibi, you can expect to be treated like your business matters.

As you know I have been getting ready for the Health Dept. to do their inspection. The good news is that the Alibi would pass. However, to my disappointment, I would literally only be open for 1 week WHY? Because I need someone to sign off on the Fire Suppression System.
Although my equipment is in working order and grandfathered in,...I cannot find someone certified to say so, all the companies I have talked with believe it needs to be upgraded.
This means as of May 1, I am no longer in compliance and would have to spend thousands of dollars to bring my system up to date.
As a number of you already know, The Alibi Tavern was opened to provide the good people of Pomeroy with a close by and comfortable dining option and bar. My plan has always been to do this through my daughter’s Jr. year. I took joy in volunteering my time so that others in the community could earn a paycheck or even dine out without having to drive over 30 minutes. It was my intent that 2023 would be my last year.
Sadly, after much consideration of the time required, money needed and the stress I have felt with the Health Dept., I have decided to close.

Well, sorry to say the earliest the health department can work with me is going to be next Thursday for an inspection. If all goes well, I will open up the following Wednesday. I plan to make another post Thursday immediately following the inspection at 10:00 AM. The Alibi hopes all of you know how much we were hoping to open Wednesday the 12th to see all of our friendly faces. Take care and hope to see you all real soon.

Just an update, we are hoping that our inspection can be done early next week. However, we do need to have one thing fixed before they can come for their inspection. Let’s cross our fingers for next Wednesday.

We are sorry to inform you that we have to work at the speed of the government. Our local health department informed The Alibi Tavern that the Health Department must do an inspection prior to our re-opening. They were unable to do this in the timely manner needed for The Alibi Tavern to open. For this reason we cannot tell you when we are going to open. But we will keep you informed of what's going on. Thank you for stumbling down this rocky road with us.

It is that time of year again, Chili Cook-off. This is the time of year to help our local food bank and purchase a bowl of chili for $5. 100% of your chili purchase goes to the food bank. We are planning to have it Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11am. So far, we have 4 people entering their Chili and we are looking for more. please text 5095667076 if you would like to enter.

The Alibi will be open Saturday and Sunday at 7 am for breakfast. Saturday, we will stay open through dinner and on Sunday, we will stay open until 2 pm. Come and enjoy both locals and hunter alike.

In celebration of this "spooky" month, we are kicking off "make the spirits disappear" our "Ghoul" is cleanse spirits that have made limited appearances. All our spirits on the bottom shelf will be $3 a shot. Now is the time to try new concoctions and potions, without the fear of scary prices. Come in and see what we have and get the first 2 drinks (1 tall) for just $5.

OK, the water heater is now fixed but I need t do some shopping for food. Will reopen Thursday at 5.

Due to the water heater breaking we can't be opened until we get hot water again, we are trying to fix this issue as soon as possible, but there are many issues that have come up as a result of it being grandfathered in, thanks for your understanding! We will let you know when we reopen.
