Over the past few months, we’ve had a front row seat to something pretty remarkable.
While most of us have watched the demolition of the historic Monarch Building from a distance, we’ve had the opportunity to see if first hand and get to know two of the men helping make it happen: Austin and Serg from Staton Companies.
These guys are the real deal.
They’ve spent months away from their homes, families, and friends while taking on one of the biggest and most challenging projects downtown has seen in years. With a crew of just three -five people, they’ve tackled a massive job with professionalism, respect, and an incredible work ethic every single day.
More importantly, they’ve been genuinely kind.
They’ve answered questions from curious community members, welcomed conversations, shared their knowledge, and treated everyone they’ve met with respect.
Last weekend we were lucky enough to take them on a fishing trip to Yellowstone, and we’re proud to call them our friends.❤️
They’ll be here through October finishing the project, and we’d love to show them some Pocatello hospitality before they’re gone.
If you’re a local business owner, consider stopping by to introduce yourself. Bring them a coffee, some cookies, lunch, dinner, a little swag from your business, or a gift card to your favorite downtown spot. Even a quick handshake and thank you would mean a lot.
They’ve helped clear the way for the future of downtown while showing tremendous respect for the neighboring historic buildings, including the Paris and First National.
It’s hard work, often thankless work, and they’re doing it with pride.
Let’s show them what this community is all about.
Support local. Support downtown. Support the people doing the hard work that helps our city move forward.
And a special shoutout to Larry Larsen and SRF | Fly Fishing | Fly Tying and Levi Gribas for helping hook these guys up with their gear and showing these guys a little Idaho hospitality. ❤️
We’re grateful to know you, Austin and Serg, and we’ll be sad to see you go.
