🛠️We’ve been busy behind the scenes — refreshing, re‑imagining, and giving The Black Smock a full glow‑up. Every detail is getting its moment, and yes… Lola has been sprinkling sparkle like it’s her full‑time job.

✨Our final piece — the new menu boards — are still making their dramatic entrance. So we’re taking one more day to bring everything together just right.

✅Lola has officially declared tomorrow, June 17, the Grand Unveiling of the Menu Boards, and we’re rolling with it.

✨Pardon our polish, friends!
The Black Smock will be closed June 9th–15th while we roll up our sleeves, build new shelving, reorganize the back‑bar, and make room for fresh products and options we absolutely couldn’t FIT before! Although we definitely tried!

Think of it as a tiny summer makeover — a little sawdust, a little magic, and a whole lot of intention.

👉Meanwhile, the glow upstairs never dims:
Speakeasy Fifty50 remains OPEN with full, normal hours all week long.
Come sip, snack, and stay cozy while we spruce.

✨ We reopen June 16th with a refreshed back‑bar, new offerings, and a space that finally breathes the way we always imagined.

Where every room has a personality, every corner has a secret, and every night feels like you’ve wandered into a story you didn’t know you were part of.

At The Black Smock and Speakeasy Fifty50, the atmosphere isn’t just décor — it’s a whole mood.
Red velvet chairs. Tin ceilings. Neon whispers. Steampunk skulls. Music rooms. Magic kitchens.
It’s all real, and it’s all waiting for you.

And these photos?
Not from a promo shoot.
Not from a local.
Not from someone we hired.

They were taken by John — a professional RN who carries his camera everywhere like it’s part of his emergency kit.
He and his brilliant engineer wife were just passing through town while she taught a class at UW–Platteville.
A totally ordinary day… until they stepped inside.

He froze.
Looked around.
And basically said with his whole soul,
“…okay, what IS this place?”

Next thing we know, he’s capturing the velvet, the glow, the metalwork, the mischief — like he’d stumbled into a secret world and needed photographic proof before anyone accused him of exaggerating.

And then he sent them to us.
Just because the space grabbed him by the senses and refused to let go.
Honestly? We’re blushing.

If a couple just passing through can feel the magic…
