I was handed 216 flowers.
One flower from each soldier we had the honor of feeding a home cooked meal to at their training base the night before they deployed. This time I don’t have words, just a heart full of so many feelings. Thank you. Get back home safe to all of us❤️

Cheers to tonight’s Cruise Night not being quite as… memorable… as last week’s. 😅
A restaurant’s nightmare…
Right around 5:15, just after every table was sat for Cruise Night and the line at the door was growing, we heard the world’s most horrifying clink-clank-CRASH from the kitchen.
Our newer kitchen hood fan bearing had officially decided it was done with life.
Dozens of orders were already on the grill. Smoke started filling the kitchen. Tickets were flying. Before I knew it, one of our cooks, a couple of awesome customers, and I were standing on the roof trying to figure out what in the heck had just happened.
Diagnosis? A failed bearing.
Our temporary MacGyver solution? A cinder block. 😅
Would I recommend it? Ehhh😬 but I’m proud of our creativity.
Did it buy us just enough time for the chefs to safely shut everything down while I called for emergency service? Somehow… yes.

Unfortunately, we still had to make the heartbreaking decision to stop service. Not only did we have to turn away everyone waiting to get in, but we also had to walk to every table we’d just seated and tell them we couldn’t cook their dinner. Hearing several families tell us they’d driven quite a ways just to eat with us made it even harder. 💔
To every single person who showed us grace, patience, and kindness that night… thank you. Seriously. It meant more than you know.

The good news?
We’re back!
So tonight, let us make it up to you. Grab a whiskey lemonade, a $10 PoBoy, catch some laughter, it is comedy night in our speakeasy! And this Cruise Night, the only thing flying off the roof will be beads… not kitchen equipment.

A HUGE thank you to Will & Amanda at Superior Hood Services for staying up late with me to get us back up and running, and to Grainger for tracking down the part we needed so quickly. Small businesses don’t get through moments like this without incredible people willing to jump in and help. We are beyond grateful. ❤️
