When we were approached by representatives working with the Allegheny County Medical Society for a “Love Your Doc” campaign, it was a no-brainer.

Our community is built around service. Serving coffee to you while supporting veterans who have served our country. Our physicians and first responders are committed to serving communities that need it most — and we showed up to show our support.

During the month of September, patrons of our North Shore cafe could leave notes of gratitude for their physicians and medical providers to thank them for going above and beyond. We were proud to display these at the cafe — and were honored to be a part of this ongoing campaign with ACMS around the city of Pittsburgh.

Think about what medical staff have made a difference in your life — and next time you get the chance, share your gratitude with them. They may need to hear it more than you think 💙

RUFF RIDE 2026 WAS A HIT 🎉

24 hours. 10 am to 10 am. 400 people, competing against only themselves and the limits they can push to save veteran lives.

That’s the impact of an organization like Team Foster. Since we joined them for Ruff Ride 2025, we’ve had only incredible experiences with all members of their team, doing incredible, real work to support real people in need. We’ve met service dogs with unbelievable skills, designed to perfectly support their veteran match.

The energy was palpable, and every person in that room was moved to lay it all on the floor. $129,000 later… we’d call that a major victory 🎉

Congratulations to Team Foster on another successful PGH Ruff Ride. We can’t wait for the next one 😎

Pitcairn, we have some exciting news! 💙

Coffee is coming back to the neighborhood, and we’re thrilled to welcome Outpost Cafe at the Brave Bean Roastery!

When our cafe closed last month, we knew how much the community missed having coffee right here in Pitcairn -- and we've been working hard since then to find a solution. We’ve been looking for a way to continue serving our homebase while staying true to our mission, supporting our staff, and growing Brave Bean Coffee to expand our impact.

That opportunity came through Joseph Oleksak and Heather Oleksak, Army Veterans with a passion for coffee and the dream of opening a coffee shop of their own. We’re incredibly excited to support them as they work toward making that dream a reality.

Brave Bean will be supplying all of the coffee for The Outpost and helping Joe and Heather get their business off the ground right here at the Brave Bean Roastery and former Brave Bean Coffee Pitcairn Cafe.

Supporting Veterans as they establish their own small businesses is a core value for Brave Bean Coffee. Through this next step, we’re able to directly impact a growing Veteran family, support more Veterans doing great work, and continue serving our Pitcairn community in a new way.

We can’t wait to see what Joe and Heather build and to bring Brave Bean roasts back to the neighborhood in every cup.
